Today was such a productive day.
I got up and cleaned up the kitchen while Lianna freaked the fuck out about us having ringworm.
I made it to the Post Office on time to mail my mom's belated birthday present - a Pottery Barn towel and some fancy soap. While I was there, there was this guy who looked like he just rolled out of bed standing in line behind me. He had this cute package made up with 'from:' and a picture of the Incredible Hulk with a 'to:' with a picture of Supergirl. Cute. When he got to the clerk, there was a problem with his package (of course) and he started losing his temper. I've had a really short temper too lately. Maybe it's the change in the weather or something.
Then I biked down to Home Depot to get some screws that would fit my bike. So many latinos at the Home Depot in the Bronx. ...I don't really know why that surprised me. It took me a while but I FINALLY found the right fit. I also got an pocket hex wrench multitool, which makes me feel super cool, natch.
I got back home and was compelled to IMMEDIATELY install the bike rack. It took some finagling, but I finally got it on there good! Now all I need is my panniers to come and I'll be ALL about the grocery shopping with this baby.
Then I roasted up some chicken breasts, threw together a chicken salad sandwich before I ran down to Uniqlo.
It was a total zoo today, I figure on account of the crazy sale. I agonized over which coat to wear, before deciding on a very dark brown. I also got 2 heattech shirts, a plaid broadcloth hipster button-down, and two pairs of jeans, and I managed to keep it all under $100! (The jeans were $9.90 each!) It's too bad my family doesn't live in wintry climes, because I would totally have bought everybody's present. As it is I still need to figure out what the heck to get my dad for his birthday in a few weeks. I was also thinking about getting a fleece for myself, but a) I decided it made me look kinda shlubby, and I already look shlubby too often and b) they didn't have any of the patterns ones on sale, and I figured I could hold out for one of those.
Back uptown to make a quick stirfry, chat with Jeff and dash back out to Queens to see WFulton's new play. Here's my capsule review for skizdi:
The concept was cool
the script was enh
I'm not sure why it was a play
the girl playing the robot was pretty awesome
The walls were all painted shit-brown
it could have used a more active sound design
and Will was kind of embarrassed afterwards.Told me it was still a little 'rough around the edges, it'll be great in 2 weeks.
Oh, um, also a robot ripped out a human's entrails in the last scene. So... that happened.
I was looking forward to eating at this place in LIC called the Burger Garage, but apparently everything in LIC shuts down after 10 pm on a Saturday night. (What IS this, Hyde Park???) So I came home, whipped up some lentil stew, overbroiled some whiting and an egg and ate that, plotting to get some amazing Italian food tomorrow. It's been so long since I've had real Italian. I'm not sure if I'm going to do brunch or just dinner. I'm thinking brunch, just to save some money, since it has been kind of an expensive weekend.
Then I helped Bekah give Hagelin a fungicidal bath. Was that fun and a half!
