Mr. Herbert (R-Utah) has said he disapproves of discriminating against gay men and lesbians, but that he does not think it should be illegal.
...What??? WHAT?
Let's replace the phrase 'gay men and lesbians' with ANY OTHER MINORITY EVER, and see how that sounds.

Tomorrow is
hourly comic day. I'm gonna try to do it.

Most of the young people I encounter fall into two categories: they are either supergood kids, overscheduled little adults like their parents, who have a staff of tutors, coaches and therapists to ensure that all will work out as it is supposed to. Or they are so bad and in situations beyond redemption - babies with babies, little meth-heads and big screw-ups who are never going to get on the right track.
What??? WHAT? This is from a page on the NYTimes where five experts explain how no kids today can relate to Holden Caulfield at all. What the fuck. Why not ask some actual teenagers?

Taylor Swift is like Hi-C. OH MY GOD SHE CAN'T EVEN SING ON PITCH.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who can see that Avatar is Ferngully In Space.
There's a movie on which feature Clint Eastwood as an trucker who travels with a chimpanzee named Clyde. It really makes you appreciate why he took up directing.

I can't believe that out of all the shows to revive, they are reviving Promises, Promises. I'm having a hard time just re-listening to this cast recording, the score is that dull. Which is astonishing, since it's Burt Bacharach-Hal David. For all their pop prowess, they seem to have been thwarted at writing a tuneful Broadway score. I mean, what are they gonna do, perk the show up with dishonest Bacharach interpolations? I feel like the show ran mostly on the Michael Bennett choreography, are they gonna revive that too? Lord. We do not need this. Promises, Promises starring Sean Hayes and Kristin Chenoweth. Broadway's Archaeological Age.
And Jerry Orbach sings flat like, 60% of the time.

GODDAMN I GOT SOME AMAZING MUSIC TODAY.

So weird story. On the Panama cruise, JC and I met this couple from the ship who were the parents of the guy touring as the Phantom in the national tour of Phantom of the Opera. We ended up chatting about Andrew Lloyd Webber and Hal Prince and I got some insight into what it's like to tour as the Phantom.

So I've been thinking about telling passengers on the ship that I got Botox. That would take care of both the "why don't you smile when you play" question, and the "how old are you?" ("Thirty-two. It does miracles, doesn't it?"). Usually now I just make up an older age to make them feel bad.
I haven't practiced piano in I don't know how long. Do you think I'll go back to playing more when I get off ships?
One of my friends from high school, Terrance, got cast in the Broadway revival of Hair (amazing). He dropped out of Spruce Creek and we were all worried about him, but I guess it all worked out. I'll have to check in with him when I get up there.

Hourly Comic Day was really enjoyable, by the way. It felt so exciting to have an artistic project to work on. To tackle problems creatively and to end up with a little product you're proud of. I just have to figure out some way how to scan and upload them now.
I feel lousy for not doing more creative stuff while I've been on ships. Am I not supposed to be writing the great cruise novel out here? Or the great cruise canto? What have I done? JACK. SQUAT.

CBS refused to sell an ad during the Superbowl to a gay online dating site? What's up with that? First off, why would a gay dating site market itself to men watching the Superbowl (even if I actually watched the whole thing this year)? Secondly, how many curious straight men do you think would have signed up as a result of seeing aforementioned hypothetical commercial?

Sometimes the towels I get out here smell like cigarettes.
I love watching Looney Tunes for all the 1940's references I must have missed.
So Pitchfork, the exasperatingly snobby online music magazine, has put out a l
ist of the 200 best albums of the 2000's. And I have to say, the rock albums of the 2000's I have are pretty well-represented there, so I'm feeling pretty good about myself. I have some contentions with the list of course. A few omissions: I might have missed it, but I can't find Fox Confessor Brings the Flood in there, which as far as I'm concerned should be in the top 20, and I still don't like The National. Anyways.
olde_hag57 , you should give it a once-over.
This is an exciting time to be alive!
