Dang, my flist is full of knee-jerk feminism tonight. Where did all of this come from? First there's the wanky post in ONTD about the 10 most misogynistic films of the past decade (some of which I disagree with...and which ones are supposed to be the most feminist films??) Then there were posts in metafandom regarding some chick making broad generalizations about slash fanfiction. You see, all that homoerotic subtext we pick up on? That's all well-hidden homosocialism that has opressed us wimminz for centuries! That's right ladies, we are tools of the patriarchy!!1one!! And I really want to know where the hell she's been reading fanfics...because her experiences sure as hell don't reflect my own. O_o
Then I found this little gem, in which feminist wanker _allecto_ rants about how Joss Whedon's "Firefly" series is filled with women-bashing and rape, rape, rape! That's right folks...Inara the Companion gets raped through the whole series, every single time she has sex with a client. Because if a women is getting money for sex, it's rape. Even when the woman is highly placed in society, has the power to choose her clients (and the power to banish them), and wants to be a Companion. Even if she enjoys having sex with her clients. Rapety rape rape rape.
...She keeps on saying that word. I do not think it means what she thinks it means.
God, what an idiot. She even calls Zoe a token black woman. And she calls Wash a rapist. Fucking hell, WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS WOMAN?

I'm all for feminism, guys, but when you go all militant with the cause and refuse to accept the simple fact that women are human beings that make mistakes, then it's time for you to sit the fuck down and take a chill pill. Christ.
