It's pretty funny how much I love summer weather, yet can't fully enjoy it in all its glory thanks to my pale Irish skin. I either sit in the shade and gaze out at the tan people running amok, or put on my sunscreen and get a little bit burned regardless. God I hate sunburns so much. My scalp got burned last weekend, and it's just now starting to peel. Gaah, unsightly dandruff! *grumbles*
It's especially aggravating trying to convince tan people that no, it's not really a good idea for me to try tanning. I am naturally very fair-skinned, and more vulnerable to skin cancer. All it takes is a few really bad burns. I explain this to people, and they still don't get it. I blame Coco Chanel. In the 1920s she convinced a swarm of socialites that tan skin was a sign of wealth and leisure and not a sign of the lower class, and everything went downhill from there. Curse you Chanel! *shakes fish*
Hmm, Aunt Sue is flying in from Flagstaff today. I hope my mom doesn't say anything about Pride weekend...I really don't wanna explain to Sue why a straight person would go to a Pride festival to support friends and not to "gawk at the weirdos"...I already had that awkward conversation with my dad, and I'd rather not repeat the experience.
Geez, this whole entry turned out grumbly and bitchy. I don't know why...I'm actually in a really good mood today, because of the weather. Odd! O_o
Oh, for the anime fans...the live action Evangelion movie has NOT been dropped. They're just trying to figure out people's schedules and availability before officially signing a director the project and greenlighting the film. Until that happens, everything is SUPERSEKRITOMG
