Did you think Brooke would resist? Oh, no. She too has been sucked into the amazingly crackilicious AU verse, started by
builfromscraps and
americas_cap.
I blame the amazing
only_pepper for seducing me to the dark side. Things will be tagged as Tempus Incognitum to separate this AU verse and her normal one, which will not be affected.
Daughter of widowed Victoria Anne Davis, Brooke was raised in luxury as a child, until the loss of her father’s land and possessions caused Brooke to fend for herself. While her mother desperately sought help in the pockets of those she envied, Brooke served as a maid in the household of rich landowner Joseph Connells. In her spare time, Brooke learned the useful and fulfilling craft of sowing. Connells, impressed by the occasional articles of winter clothing she would create for him, introduced Brooke to the wife of a wealthy lord, who provided compensation for her work. Brooke’s talent has developed into a profitable pastime, although it has failed to provide enough money to live on.
Brooke finally left the Connells home to work as a serving girl in the local tavern. She continued to make her own fabrics and sell them to those that were aware of her talents, but the profit was meager.
Brooke is never out of the loop when it comes to the town’s gossip. She is well liked, both because of her contagious charm and because of the blissful intoxication she offers the inhabitants of the tavern. Give her a smile and a nice tip, and you just might get a nice piece of gossip in return. She loves to chat, and she loves to get you drunk. You can try to charm her, but be careful: she’s easily broken.
