NDI and Gameinformer

Naughty Dog's game "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune" is featured in issue 168 of Gameinformer. There's lots of pictures, including some interesting things like examples of Drake's 1200+ 'unique animations' (Jak, you only had 200!). The article writer has nothing but praise for the game, so I kind of wonder how much ND payed him off the magazine might be ( Read more... )

Personally, I don't care if you call them human or elves, so long as the writing's good. Terms like "elfhood" and "she-elf" and "he-elf" and whatnot drive me up the wall, though, and I write them as being elves.

Seriously. "She-elf"? What the frick?

I am very glad, though, that now when people get up in arms against me calling them elves, I can say I do have evidence enough to be allowed to use the term. (The people who go up in arms against me using the word "elf" tend to be the same ones that refuse to believe Seem is female, though, so I really doubt it'll help much in the end...)

Well, it's worth a try. ;D Good luck dealing with the morons... god knows we have people in this fandom *coughmakeroflightcough* who don't believe in evidence.

Oh, and she-elf comes from LotR I think... one of the Ringwraiths call Eowyn that, and the fangirls jumped on thinking it's a proper term. What they don't get is that the Ringwraith meant it as an INSULT.

Jak II was very detailed even if it didn't go very deep with its implied background: there was obviously some thought put into it. If NDI wanted them to be "elves", then they shouldn't have had the Baron call themselves "human" in the first place. What Evan Wells says will not change what currently exists in the games, but if, in a following game, they are called "elves", then that might change things. Like, introducing more wank fodder.

Oh, wait.

My reasoning for my stance regarding the humans-versus-elves thing is pretty simple--I, personally, use the term "elves" because in the TPL guide I have, it refers to Jak as being "a young elfin boy", and that's the first bit of Jak information I got. So I call them elves. Most of the time ( ... )

If it helps, I think that calling them either humans or elves is bad because the concept art is considerably more anthropomorphic than either of the two, and because their ears were, at least, farther up on their heads.

I didn't mean to imply that wank has started here, only that it already has occurred elsewhere. Not that I've seen any about this, sadly, because that would be highly entertaining... but this is the internet and I'm sure it exists. It was also my opinion, I should have made clearer, that if it wasn't including in the game, where every player has access to it, then it's not really evidence.

Unless we want to start some wank; that would be fine too. Bob knows it would be the most entertainment this community has seen this year.

I AM HIGHLY OFFENDED THAT YOU THINK YOUR OPINION IS MORE IMPORTANT THAT MINE BECAUSE I HAVE EVIDENCE, TOO

I AM SO OFFENDED, IN FACT, THAT I WILL MAKE A NEW ENTRY COMPLAINING ABOUT IT

Well, I've been ranted at about how I'm stupid for calling them elves, and I'm not even well-known in this fandom at ALL, so I'm sure there's some serious wank out there somewhere.

WELL! If you're so OFFENDED then CLEARLY your opinion doesn't MATTER at ALL, much LESS as much as MINE DOES!

So THERE. Hahaha. I pwn joor fayse. *poses*

...*sucks at this, sorry*u_u
