Monk felt distressed, and slightly lost as he wandered down the hall, playing with the end of his sleeve. The nurse had told him to wait in some room, but he'd felt panicky as soon as she left. He wanted his doctor back.
Standing in the hallway was a young woman in a white coat who looked very much like a doctor. Well, more than the three nurses and half-dozen patients he'd stopped did.
Even though she was talking to someone else, he walked up to the two of them. "Excuse me," he interrupted.
Monk nodded. "In the clinic. He poked me with a needle. I don't like needles." He looked at her for a moment, trying to gauge her reaction, but it was surprisingly difficult for whatever reason. "Can you take me to him? Please? I need him."
"He'll do that," sighed Cameron. "House... doesn't usually deal with his own patients. He sends me, or one of the other members of the department." She gave the guy an apologetic smile. "I'm Dr. Cameron."
"I'm Adrian. Monk." She was younger than Natalie, but nice enough looking. Maybe if he couldn't get back to San Francisco and couldn't find Sherona - she was a nurse, wasn't she? Or she used to be - this Dr. Cameron would like to be his assistant. Unless Dr. House wanted the job. And promised not to poke him with more needles.
He felt very weird. "Do you know where Dr. House is?"
"Not at the moment, no," said Cameron. He was very anxious, wasn't he? Probably part of why he was here. But why on earth was House dealing with him, then?
"I... I could help you look," she said. "I can show you his office."
"It's... well, larger than most offices I've been in, but smaller than a normal room. And there might be milk." Cameron shrugged. "There might be anything in there."
"Oh," said Cameron, nodding in understanding. "And House gave you an injection of some kind," she added, more to herself than anything. Wow, the guy must... really like House.
"Well, we'll do what we can to make sure your stay here is comfortable," she assured him.

"Hi there. Can I help you with something?"

She smiled sweetly at the other doctor, imagining stomping on his foot, and then turned back to the man. "Who's your doctor?"

Monk frowned. The doctor had never given his name, had he? Well. If Natalie had been here, she would have gotten a name.
"He's tall," Monk explained. "Tall, skinny. Needs to shave. Has a cane." He smiled slightly. "And needs new pants. I suggested number 18."

Or a number of other things, but he figured she'd understand.
