Chase had been terrified from House's phone call and realized that maybe, just maybe, the job really would disappear if she didn't show up. So Chase waited until it was night and there was less of a chance for anyone else to see her ( Read more... )

"Intern? Nurse's station is down the hall."

Foreman gave the girl a warm smile and indicated the direction.

"You don't want to be up here when House gets back."

Chase paused in her steps at the familiar voice, freezing and tucking the ID badge into her pocket. "I'm not afraid of House," she answered back simply. Well, that wasn't true. "And I'm not an intern."

Foreman was slightly confused, but the girl was fun to look at so it was okay.

Wilson was feeling pretty good, knowing that people could touch him again weithout sending him into a malestorm of emotion and unwanted imagery. He might have been whistling just slightly, and maybe looking for House so he could yell his name across a hallway.

Instead he saw a rather attractive woman, wearing a lab coat. Her demeanor communicated that she belonged, though Wilson had never seen her before. He altered his path, intending to introduce himself.

There was something oddly familiar about the way she chewed on the end of her pencil, but Wilson wasn't thinking too much about that. Chase chewed on his pencils, he thought idly, which just reinforced not thinking too much on that habit.

"Hey." He said casually. "New here? I could show you around." He knew it was lame, but sometimes it worked.

Chase stared up at the voice and found herself staring at Wilson, caught frozen for a moment, not knowing what to say. "Dr. Wilson," she squeaked slightly. "No, I'm not new."
