Zelda has an appointment with her doctor this afternoon. A simple check-up, so he's not all that worried and feels fine about letting her attend along. Chase works at a non-stop pace until well after two in the afternoon, planning to take a late lunch so he can visit with Gregory

"Chase," Wilson greeted, nodding at him. He smiled at the baby.

Chase glances up in surprise. "House isn't in here right now. I think he's trying to avoid doing any work right now. Need something?"

He follows Wilson's eyes, smiling. "I got an cute one, didn't I?"

"You got lucky," Wilson agreed, smiling tightly. It was getting harder and harder to ignore how he felt about wanting kids. He'd have to talk to Stephen soon.

"His health is improving quickly. Thank god." After a long, difficult pause, Chase motions for Wilson to sit.

"It seems like everyone's been having kids, these days. I think House is collecting them, actually. That look-- thinking you might be next?"

Wilson blinked. "Possibly," he said, raising an eyebrow at Chase. "Are you getting better at reading minds, or am I just that obvious?"

"I've seen that look before," Chase admits. "I'm starting to think there's something in the water. That or Cuddy's rubbing off on all of us. Besides, you and Colbert are the only ones left."

"Maybe there is something in the water. Or the portal's started getting sentimental," Wilson said.

Chase shudders. "You're making it sound so... sentient. I hate thinking about it like that. Besides, it's usually so vindictive-- this isn't it's smile." He shifts Gregory. "My advice-- start with a dog or a cat."

Wilson gave him a look. "After everything it's done, I think we can safely declare that it's sentient," he said. "And we have a dog. I got Stephen a puppy for Christmas."

He gives Wilson a long, puzzled look.

"Huh." Chase raises an eyebrow, turning away. "Maybe I'm a little closer to things than I thought." A shake. "Is this just the start, or... no, no, not my business."

Interesting, though.

Wilson raised an eyebrow at him. "What are you talking about now?"

A pause.

"Sometimes I think it would be far more useful if other people could read my mind." Chase shrugs at Wilson. "You. Kids. That's all I meant."

Wilson shrugged. "Maybe," he said, acting nonchalant. "It's something Stephen and I haven't talked about yet."

Chase lets out a snort and a choking laugh.

"No," he says, amusement in his voice. "I can't imagine. I don't envy you that."

Wilson sent him a sharp look that clearly said, 'watch it.' "Excuse me?" he asked.

"Colbert. And children." Chase gives Wilson a look, straightening and readjusting Gregory. "Does he even remember he had children before? Let alone talking to him about having more, with you. Does he realize he's in a gay, domestic relationship yet, or...?"
