Brenda had opted to leave the turkey itself to James (which was why he and Stephen were supposed to get there relatively early), and Izzie had claimed the baking, which left everything else for her. She'd gotten up early and made Spike loosen his hold on her so she could do it. After the kids woke up, she put them to work cleaning and setting the table, as well as putting out snacks. Now, she was mostly done with her part of the cooking, and she'd already changed for the day. She'd woken up Spike long enough to let him know what was going on, before he rolled over and went back to sleep.
