Oh the joys of having far too many pets!
Okay, so Monty is healing well. His wounds look good, nice and clean and, probably due to good firm bandaging, no granulation. I have lost count of how many bandage changes and how many days since the accident. He has also been reasonable to deal with when I have to change his dressings provided I do it while he eating his dinner.
Jacita's leg doesnt look so good. The swelling around the wound site is pretty bad so even though the stitched have held and there is no infection I have still been giving her some bute each day in a small feed. She has just begun to really difficult to treat. She is now attempting to cow-kick when I clean the old dressings and the dried "seepage" from the leg.
Castiel still has a popping stifle and is way overdue for another steroid injection but it will have to wait. I owe the vet $1400 for Jac and Monty and I'd like to pay off some of that before I incur anymore bills. I should be able to get it done by the end of the week? We'll see how I go.
My Two Fat Ladies are back in the backyard. There is far too much clover on the farm and once again they are on the brink of foundering. Also poor little Ruby is looking dull and itchy again. Today I will medi-shampoo her and give her a thorough scrub and another treatment with the Swift. Red will get the same by default. Then we will have to start our daily walks again...god, I need about 3 more hours in each day. Surviving on 4 hours sleep each day is killing me!
The rest of the mini-mob have been moved to a smaller paddock on the farm on the side of a hill with far less rich grass. Hopefully the combination of having a hilly workout and less actual feed will keep their weight stable. They will all be due for some more ivermectin paste soon and I think I will re-treat all of them with Swift as a preventative measure against the mange.
On the home front I have a property to inspect later today with a view to living on acreage where all my equines can live with me instead of them being on agistment. I want nothing more than to have all my horses and ponies on the same property. I hate having to rely on others to maintain the fences and let me use the paddocks most suitable to the needs of the individual horse! I have put relocating to Tasmania on hold (temporarily) due to the lack of employment opportunities down there. However there is still a lovely place on five acres I can afford about an hour from Hobart.... so that is satill on the table as an option. This will be an ongoing drama...for sure!
Our kid boys are well. They were at home on the weekend. Mogwai's knee doesnt seem to be bothering him anymore? Its still a little swollen but he's using it again. Elum is super friendly now too after a couple trips home. The backyard is a fantastic place for taming shy or unfriendly animals! The only one who is resisitant is the old man Duane.
Dogs...both really well. Cat...old and doddery and narcoleptic but otherwise well for a 17.5 year old cat!
Kid....she's super awesome and very very helpful...especially when I need help at the moment!
