There was an interesting eerieness running through this story, with Kate uncertain of how much control the rest of society had over her marriage, how much of what she valued about her relationship was being leeched away by public attention to it. And that made the end a relief and an affirmation. Very nice.

Yeah...I have the feeling that between the time of Richard's deposition and his death, people are wondering around shadowlands a great deal, neither one thing nor another, and a lot of what is good being slowly drained from them. I thought the press made a good modern(ish) analogy to that...

The end IS a relief - but it's them *G* the bad things happen later....

I like that concept, of that sort of purgatory. I think it's fascinating, and makes a lot of sense.
