In case you've missed what's going on...

Woo! Today is the first bonus day after the original list of linkie-day themes, courtesy of a crack session with serke. Today is everything plants day (I had to go look up a couple to help beef things along).

To start, an artist wants to open a plant porn theater. Ooh baby, uncensored pollination!! ...Though, with all the heavy rain around here lately, all the cars on the block get tree-spooged on regularly, so I don't see the need to go out to a theater to see it.

Here's the Welwitschia plant. It consists of only two leaves, a sturdy stem and some roots, can live between 400-1500 years, and is officially one of the strangest plants on the planet.

Stretching the theme ever so slightly, doctors in China found grass growing in a baby's lung. Err... what?

What would you do if you knew your plants were watching you? Here's a very neat computer animation of alien/future plants. It's a gorgeous mix of familiar, though exotic, plants and rhythmic editing.

Okay, I definitely found this link through another community online, where it was captioned "HOLY SHIT GIANT SPIKY PLANT WANG". This should be SFW, just mostly hilarious.

It's Vileplume Rafflesia arnoldii!! I had to link through there because, despite the fact I've seen many pictures of the things, I had never seen one taken from inside the plant before.

Take a taste trip with the miracle fruit. I did some digging and people attest that by eating "the miracle fruit (Synsepalum dulcificum)," it causes subsequently eaten bitter and sour foods taste sweet for some period of time afterward. ...If I go out and buy some of these things, I will TOTALLY document it in ze ElJay.
