I kinda just really wanted to mark this day, as I raise a glass of vodka and Redbull to Prince.
Yesterday marked the 20th anniversary of the release of Kiss. Which I feel is worthy of recognition.
Today I have been revelling in Prince-y goodness, and even won an ebay auction of a rare item I have been wating for ages. At a shockingly decent price.
Tomorrow marks the release of his Brand new Single Black Sweat on all formats. He's still got it.
It can surely be no co-incidence, that Black Sweat shares many similarities with Kiss. Both song have sparse and tight arragements, and the stylish black-and-white video could perhaps be considered a nod to the black-and-white images from the Parade era (of which Kiss was the lead single). Which I think is pretty freaking cool.
I take my hat off to the guy, because imho the new single is funky with a capital F.
The video is pretty damn cool too. Anyone with a fast-ish connection can find a nice streaming copy (290kbps) here.
I can't bloody wait for the new album.
I realised I did not have any Prince icons. So here we go.
I have no idea if anyone reading this even likes Prince, but feel free to steal/use/credit etc.
