Singapore

I've been in Singapore for the past few days. The guesthouse I'm staying in has free internet access, so I use it. This city definitely has some sort of character, it inspires a strange mood in me. I can't quite place it - it's somewhere between the street cantines and evening life of Delhi, the wet laziness of Panama City, the urgency of a Tokyo fish market, and the grey winter depression of old Riga. I bought myself a Chinese black silk pajama and a thick black silk kimono at the garage sales/junk markets in town for only $12 each. Also bought a lot of HK version CDs, including that good old Luna Sea box set and The Brilliant Green's "Winter Album".
I got really buzzed off local beer yesterday (there's no ID policy here) and flopped down to sleep. Now I'm awake at 4 in the morning.
The one thing I did is I got the DVD bonus version of MM's best of album. It was only 6 bucks. Yesterday I was watching, watching and rewatching the music video for "Man That You Fear", and that's kind of what inspired the poem in the previous post. The video is based on a short story called "The Lottery". In a small town out in the south there is a ritual performed every year - the lottery - where a man in the village is picked to be stoned to death. No one remembers why it's done, but the people carry on the tradition. In the video you can see how MM happens to be the guy selected, and how the people who are supposed to be his wife and child pick up the stones to kill him with. I could go on forever, it is a great video (lots of eye candy!) and also my favorite song, but I'm obsessed as is, I don't want to seem overboard. Expect more from me!
Love,
Sash~
