I'll make up for your promptness -- I just watched this episode today. It was a fun episode, but the two parts felt like they were from separate episodes. We had the sweet Christmas episode with heart-felt moments and time-compression magic, and we had the action-adventure, blood&gore episode with the serial killer. Look, there's something for everyone! Still, I would also be quite happy if Show decided to keep up the good plots after the holiday break.

Agent Conway seemed a little tacked on, like someone realized at the last minute that they couldn't just have the FBI phone in the exposition about a serial killer. I didn't think it was bad, just kindof an afterthought.

To me, it made more sense for Gary's girlfriend to slide the gun to Chin. Even if he had just knocked me out, I would have trouble shooting someone I considered a friend, much less a person I had been dating. Also, what are the odds that she happens to have enough experience with guns to decisively take out someone when she's stressed and possibly concussed? BAMF!Chin was an added bonus to the realism. ;>

Wouldn't it figure that the one week I manage to watch H50 live is the week that apparently no one else watched it at all? I don't think I've seen any discussion of this ep at all.

I didn't mind her being there, I just wish they'd hired an actress who could pronounce multisyllabic words like she'd done it before. She reminded me of Jewel Staite on Stargate Atlantis. I generally like Jewel Staite, but she cannot pronounce medical jargon to save her life. Watching her play a (supposedly gifted) doctor week after week while she pronounced the medical terms as if they were from an incomprehensible foreign language that she was reading phonetically was painful. I kept wanting to make her watch a few seasons of Emergency! so she could see how it was done.

To me, it made more sense for Gary's girlfriend to slide the gun to Chin.

I didn't say it didn't make sense. I just get tired of female characters having to be rescued by men even when they have the means to save themselves. She was holding a gun and Gary was 3 feet away. It's not like she needed to be a sniper to make that shot. Still, some people just don't have it in them to commit an act of violence, even to save their own lives.

I also couldn't help remembering that protected witness that everyone was trying to kill in that episode in season 1. I really liked her. She wasn't exactly Xena, Warrior Princess, she was just really determined not to die.
