Supernatural took over Hawaii Five-0 again.
Aside from the plot, the actors included Michelle Borth (Dean's imaginary girlfriend in "What Is and What Should Never Be") and DJ Qualls (Garth, the world's most equable hunter).
I think I finally managed to put my finger on the intangible thing that's bugging me about this show. When you hear the cast and crew of shows like Teen Wolf, Sleepy Hollow, and Supernatural talk about their shows, everyone is so enthusiastic about what they're doing that even though those shows are far from perfect, the love and care that everyone from the showrunners to the stars to the PAs have for what they're doing tends to bleed through and create this indefinable atmosphere where you can't help but feel that enthusiasm while you watch, which is enough to overpower any of those shows' shortcomings. I haven't had that feeling about Hawaii Five-0 in a long time. I think the only person who's happy to show up for work every day is Daniel Dae Kim, and that also tends to create an indefinable "another day, another dollar" atmosphere that you can't help but feel while you watch. I get the feeling that in 10 or 20 years, someone is going to publish a tell-all book about the behind-the-scenes drama on this show that we currently know nothing about.
Meanwhile, I'm not at all surprised that Max goes to The Rocky Horror Picture Show in costume. That scene was painful for me, though. It was clearly staged by people who have never been to Rocky Horror. The audience was just saying the lines along with Riff Raff instead of saying the audience participation lines, and they were just kind of dancing randomly in place instead of doing the Time Warp.
Cath is slowly turning into Joe White 2.0. What is it about these people that makes them think that just because they were in the Navy, that entitles them to participate in police investigations? I'm sure they're both highly trained, but neither of them have police powers. If Catherine needs something to take her mind off Billy's death, she can always look for another job, or at least go back to the roller derby. She seemed to enjoy it during her undercover assignment with the team.
I can't believe Danny thinks Steve doesn't pay attention to him. Steve sticks his nose into every part of Danny's life. He can't even rest unless he knows what Danny is having for lunch. Probably the only reason Steve hasn't noticed Danny was claustrophobic before now was because the writers didn't think to make Danny claustrophobic before now.
How is it that Grace even manages to be adorable as a juvenile delinquent? You can't tell me that Danny never t.p.'d a house, though. Or maybe it was Matt that did and Danny's right about it leading to a life of crime.
I really loved Steve's takedown of the drugged-up Brock at the end. Season one Steve probably would've beaten him down and cuffed him instead of just restraining him and reassuring him everything was going to be okay. Maybe Danny is finally starting to rub off on Steve (get your minds out of the gutter; this is a family blog!).
I'm sorely tempted to answer Danny's question about why girls dress the way they do for Halloween with a strongly worded rebuttal about an industry that thinks it's okay to make
"Anna Rexia" costumes, but that's an epic rant for another forum.
