SPN Ep: I'm No Angel

Oct 22, 2013 22:05

One thing hasn't changed--angels are still dicks.

It looks like the angels may have learned something from the far more media savvy leviathans, though. Prior to that face-off I don't think it would have occurred to the angels to make it easier for themselves to find hosts by going to a televangelist and having him tell his followers to let the angels in.

We've seen angels burn out their hosts before, but not flat out explode them. Was it just me, or did it seem like there was a lot more angel trying to cram itself into that poor girl than usual? With the glow cloud coming from two directions and the way the possession seemed to go on and on, I thought maybe two angels were trying to occupy one host at the same time. Maybe that's why she went splody. Or maybe I'm reading too much into it.

Speaking of reading too much into it, Bartholomew's female minion was doing such a dead-on impersonation of Naomi that I thought that's who she was at first, especially when they didn't seem to be using her name. But I don't think Bartholomew would talk to Naomi like that, unless that spike to the head gave her amnesia and she doesn't remember she's supposed to slap Bartholomew into next week for not respecting her authoritah. But my money is on the guest actress just basing her performance on Naomi because Naomi was the most recent female angel to have a sizable part.

One thing I don't think I'm reading too much into is Ezekiel and his agenda. I don't think he's planning to give Sam back. He certainly made sure to let Dean know just how useful he could be. And I wonder if Ezekiel using his angel power plays into it too? I mean, Ezekiel is healing himself as well as Sam, right? If he blows a wad of power like he did to resurrect Castiel, does it hurt him or Sam? If it hurts him, then he needs to stay in Sam longer to heal. If it hurts Sam, then he needs to stay in Sam longer to heal Sam. Either way, he has an excuse not to go anywhere.

Whatever his agenda is, I don't think it involves killing Castiel, because if it did he wouldn't have had a hard time coming up with an excuse as to why he couldn't resurrect an already-dead Castiel. I'm just not sure what purpose threatening to kidnap Sam if Dean didn't evict Castiel serves, except to isolate Dean. Please tell me there's more to all this than just another angel with a Dean crush.

I was so disappointed that's what Ezekiel's ultimatum was, and not just because of Castiel's poor little woobie face when Dean told him he couldn't stay. When Castiel let slip about his educational evening with Reaper!April before she tried to kill him, Sam and Dean were acting like Castiel's frat brothers trying to get Castiel to spill about his date. It was all so cute! Ezekiel is such a buzzkill. And I can't even tell if Dean is on to Ezekiel yet, or if he's still trusting him to keep his word about Sam.
