Welcome to my life...

Hello there, Internet!

It's been months since I updated, and I've been meaning to, trust me. I went back, and read my last post. It was from the day before the Ex headed out of town. I guess I'll touch on that briefly, since I really intend this to be a Dirty Mike-esque (what ever happened to that fucker, anyways?) diatribe, though I don't know how much I can recall and commit to this entry... I'll give it a shot:

So, the next day with helping her old man move shit went well. My boy, Ayo, came with me and helped out. Right before she left, Ayo took his leave, and her and I had a little tearful goodbye, and that was the end of that. Ayo picked me up, and I spend the next several days and nights at his place. I actually still have a few boxes of her shit I need to send to her. After I get paid, I'll finally do that. Ayo was kind enough to not prompt me to get the fuck out of his place, but after those days I spent there, I figured it was time to head back and face the music--or lack thereof.

I slept on an air mattress for several weeks. It sucked sweaty, hairy, chimp balls (I recently saw on TV that chimp testicles are like three times the size of human ones). If it was cold, which it usually was in my bedroom since my apartment doesn't have distributed heating, the mattress would be cold--no matter how many blankets I had (which wasn't many, either). I spent as many nights as I could at Ayo and Remahn's--mostly to be with friends, but their futon was five star luxury compared to my fuckin' air mattress. Eventually, I was able to find a pretty good deal on a full sized mattress and box spring. Remahn helped me transport it from the Northwest side down to my place on the South side. A few days later, I made a pretty nice little bedside stand for myself. I probably won't even bother with a bed frame until I move outta this place.

But I'm jumping over some parts.

Sometime, partway through my air mattress splendor, I went home for Christmas and New Year's. I got to see my Brother and my little Nephew, who was getting baptized. I even got a day of skiing in with him (my brother, that it). And of course, I saw my family, and friends, and--last, but certainly not least--I spent alot of time with by brother's baby's momma. Lol. I came to appreciate her so much more than I ever did before. She's doing a really great job with my nephew, and in taking care of my bro however she can. Hell, Ruger and I even drove down to see the Squad. All-in-all it was a great visit. I had mixed feeling about coming back to the Chi--especially since the bed in my former room is so soft and comfortable... oh man, I miss it just typing about it...

So, I came back to my shitty little apartment with my shittier air mattress. Finally, the piece of shit sprang a leak, and I'd wake up in the middle of the night, with my hip digging into the floor through the partially deflated mattress. That's when I finally happened upon a good deal on the mattress/spring set on Craigslist. So, I got that, made a bedside stand, and then basically lost my mind with school during the first part of the semester. I'm really getting sick of it. Sick of school--design school, especially--I'm ready to get outta this fuckin' town.

Which brings me to Colorado.

For Spring Break, three friends and I went to Colorado for a ski trip. We stayed four days/nights in Frisco, and skied Breckenridge, Vail, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin. Then, we drove to Carbondale, and stayed with a female classmate who has a place out there. We skied at Aspen and Snowmass. So, six resorts in as many days. It was pretty sweet. I have to say I wasn't at all impressed with the Aspen resorts. I was especially sickened by Aspen village--if you could even call it a village. It was so full of shi-shi, foo-foo faggery like Prada and Gucci, and all that "designer" bullshit. It was like "Where the fuck am I? Skiing or on Rodeo Drive?" Additionally, the snow wasn't as good as it was on the Eastern slope. I'll give Aspen one thing: the clientele was definitely more adept and competent. That being said, the guys and I agreed that the mountains can stay, but we're gonna raze the town.

So, I feel better about life after the trip. My bank account's suffering some, but what the hell--it was worth it. Since getting back, I hung out at Ayo's place some, did a weeks of school, and hit the gym as much as my schedule would allow. I've gotta color a Squad comic. Ayo's in Atlanta this weekend, so I've been getting shit done around the apartment. I had to reconfigure my wireless router, which was a little bit of a bitch. I disassembled some shitty particle board furniture the Ex left behind, and fashioned myself a little bit more of a dresser than I had previously. Frankly, I'm not sure why I didn't think about it before. I have so much bootleg furniture in my place now. The bedside stand and dresser are particle board. I have a video shelf I made back home out of pine, and a short bookshelf I made from poplar. The bookshelf is by far the nicest piece, but I digress.

So, I suppose that's where things stand for me at this time. I talked to my brother today, and my new nephew was born this morning. All else seems to be going fine back home. Colorado is full of snow. Chicago is as miserable as ever, but at least I have friends here. I talk with friends back home from time-to-time, and that's about all I can ask for at this time in my life. There's a party at school Friday evening, then I'm gonna go see SIN CITY!!! It's gonna be so sick. I'm bringing in all my trade paperbacks for people to browse throughout the week, and become more familiar with the stories... should be a good time, all in all.

If there's anything else I wanted to mention, I can't recall it at this time. It's about 4 a.m. on Sunday, but I'm gonna back date this for Saturday, since that's when I started the damn thing. I've been chatting and watching TV since about 11 p.m. And I'm starting to get tired. I slept until noon today. It's the first time I've slept in since last weekend, which was the first time I'd slept in since about two weeks prior. We were up early everyday of skiing. It was awesome.

Ok, enough is enough. I hope this is long enough for most of you. I'm sure Dirty mike will put me to shame.

G'nite.
