The world seems determined to do everthing exactly wrong.
Over the weekend, I learned
Netscape is being discontinued. Realistically, this leaves
Explorer, which is crap, and
Firefox, which is nowhere near as reliable.
Now, I learn those twisty bulbs that already have many other drawbacks
can cause migraines and aggravate other health problems.
RE: idiotic enforced product "upgrades":
Liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiike all televisions having to be upgraded or replaced within a year or so because our darling Congress needs to make room on the frequencies due to their poor central planning? Oh yeah.
SPONTANEOUS ORDER > CENTRAL PLANNING.

In November, Dad and I were in a massive time crunch to leave Springfield. We had about eight desktop computers that had been donated to us and we simply could not use - no way to get them to Bolivia, and so out of date that it wouldn't be worth the cost. We had only an extra few minutes, so we chanced it and stopped by a thrift store on the way out of town. I ran in and let them know I wanted to donate several working computers. The young fellow whose job it was to unload such gear, however, was on his coffee break... sitting behind the counter, in fact. So since he refused to take the machines, despite our expressed time crunch, we would have to unload them and carry them through their building to donate them. Ha. We opted to instead unload them on their sidewalk. We hadn't left the parking lot when a customer stopped to pick them all up and take them for free, and another one pulled up and they shared the machines. We were quite content with this solution.
