He'll be back.

On the 'phone with satanismyname tonight, he told me about a downstate state senator who is chairman of the Committee for Legislative Action. (This guy looks familiar from last election or the one before - I'll have to look into that and find out why.)
I tend to go along with the (usually) great folks at Snopes, who explain very nicely why Iterent petitions are crap. )

That's why I picked that subject line. He's an incumbent Democrat in a heavily Democratic state. Lots of people who don't pay attention to the news - like my mother - are going to vote for him.

I agree with Prof. Redfield ("This is a very status-quo-oriented political system. People are really reluctant to make changes in the state constitution. [ . . . ] It's whatever is a hot political issue. You get mileage out of putting it on the agenda. The audience is not the General Assembly, it's the news media or the interest group.), Sen. Bomke (You've got to keep drawing attention to (the issue), and hopefully there will be a change. You can't let it go unnoticed.), and Sen. Cronin ("The toughest obstacle is going to be right here. If you put this question to the public, I suspect it would get overwhelming support.") in that article.* And like with Sen. Mitchell's thing about the governor living in Springfield, to have such a measure formally proposed during Blagojevich's tenure should draw attention to the level of displeasure with Blagojevich, if nothing else.

What I really hope is that that displeasure spreads to the rest of his mutual fan club.

*There are places where I ought to have put elipses but didn't.
