I first wrote this thing on Stan back in August. Today I reread it, corrected some stuff, deleted some of my idiocy, and wrote some new things. If anybody bothers to read it, it should be better than the trash I first posted back then.

I think you're probably right-- his shadow form is really what gives Sanzo all the advantage, as the Maten Sutra specifically works on darkness. Sanzo's tricky because he doesn't reveal all his power-- pretty much ever. (We just found out in the latest Zero Sum raws that he can use a sword, okay, what?)

It would be a hell of a fight. And then makeup sex afterward. Sanzo can't resist yellow eyes, whut.

Heh, yeah. I think it would be a bit like his "final" battle with Rosalyn, which worked out to a draw--if they'd continued to fight, they would have killed each other. [I'm really equating Sanzo and Rosalyn in my head, even though they aren't actually all that similar. XP]

Makeup sex must involve a rope. Or chains. ♥ ... Who has yellow eyes in Saiyuki?

And I don't see why Sanzo would reveal all his power--people would expect more from him, at the very least. ;D

I haven't even seen a translation yet-- he loses his gun and does a one-handed backflip and starts using one of the youkai swords. It's very hot cool.

And yeah, Sanzo's fundamental laziness must never be underestimated.
