1.26 - The Strip
This is the first episode I realized that these guys put the word 'the' before things. lol The Vegas, The Nana, The mom, The dad, ect...How did it take me all season to pick up on that? Even the episodes have all been 'The' something. I was pretty amused last night when that dawned on me ^_^
Seth and Ryan are great onscreen together; so funny and such great friendship chemistry. And Seth in particular is such a great character, he's so real. He may be annoying at times but there's never anything that feels forced or fake about Adam's acting at all. Quite an accomplishment if you ask me. The scene with Ryan sleeping on his floor was cute and totally SEth to wake him up to ask if he's sleeping.
This is the first and possibly only episode that I will ever kind of like Julie Cooper. When Kirsten and her were talking about the strippers at the beginning of the episode I actually sort of liked her.
And I'm with the guys; I love the Vegas. I love that they went on location to shoot this episode too. That used to be done all the time in the 80's but not so much anymore. It was fun.
Is it wrong that I find Ryan's card counting abilities totally hot? I love the snippits we get of who he was back in Chino, all the fighting and cheating and sex...it all makes him so much sexier somehow. Wrong, I know, but very true.
Summer coming to Vegas was adorable. The prostitutes were amusing ^_^
And on to Theresa. Don't like her. I'm going to go ahead and put all the Theresa stuff here instead of bouncing back forth within the episodes.
I have two theories on this pregnancy:
1. She was pregnant when seh came to Newport looking for Ryan the first time around, wanted to get him into bed so she could claim the baby was his.
2. She knew she was pregnant when she came with the black eye, figured it was probably Eddie's, was hoping it was Ryan's and so she fed him a story which he bought hook line and sinker.
Either way, this pregnancy was totally shady, if you ask me. She knows Ryan and she knew if she showed up on his doorstep with a black eye, pregnant he was going to protect her from Eddie wether the baby was his or not. And she was right; he totally did. Threw his life away for a girl. Stupid boy.
I think it was totally shitty of her to ask him to go with her. Judging by his face when she said it, I don't think he'd even thought of that as a possibility until he heard her say it and then it was like he thought 'Of course that's what I have to do'. And so he did.
Also, I don't find it honorable that she 'gave him up' so he could go back to his life. That was all her mom's idea, not hers, you could tell the way her mom talked to her after she got off the phone with him. I think she would've been content to keep him there in Chino, obviously unhappy, until forever, or as long as he was willing to stay. But her mom saw how things were and told her that she needed to let him go.
So, Theresa, not high on my list of people I like. As a matter off act, at the moment she may be higher on my hate list than Marissa :)
1.27 - The Ties That Bind
This was a sad episode. There were a few times where I had a tear or two rolling down my face. Mainly the end when Ryan was saying bye to people. The part in the pool house when he was talking to SAndy and almost started crying...yeah, that got to me :'( And then when SEth was talking to Summer about life before Ryan, also pretty tear worthy.
I thought it was kind of silly of Seth to run away though. I mean, yeah it sucked that Ryan left but Seth is no longer the person he was when Ryan showed up. He was with Summer, girl of his dreams, she was totally smitten with him and he leaves her behind because Ryan left? Come on now. That just aint normal.
Not a whole lot more to say on this one since I covered Theresa earlier...
2.1 -
Everyone's hotter in season 2 so far, so that's a plus for later seasons :) Ryan all scruffy and sweaty working construction, it don't get no better than that. Everyone looks older somehow...it's weird. Marissa was less alien looking in this episode.
I love that she's drinking. Love it. Don't know why, but I do. It seems like a real response to what's going on in her life and she plays the part well. I loved the melt down by the pool.
Love that Summer cried over Seth for half the summer ^_^ She's so in love with him. And I can't wait to see Zach!! lol Just can't wait.
Everyone was really great in this episode. I loved the way they all handled the events of 1.27 Except Seth running away...still don't really get that. But whatever. I loved how Seth and Ryan came back, just walked into the kitchen and started chatting. That was great. And then Ryan going back out to the pool house and Seth following him ^_^
So far, season 2 looks good...I say that with cautious optimism.
So what happen to this show? It was going strong, running even longer than the normal 22 episode season for three years and then BAM! 16 episodes in season 4 and it ended in February? What happen?
Also, I just bought season 1 on DVD, are all the seasons packaged the same way?
