Personality: Because N was raised in isolation, it is sometimes painfully obvious how difficult it is for him to understand and fit into social norms. He speaks so quickly that he is nearly unintelligible at times, tends to stand too close to people when speaking to them, and is brutally honest to all those that he meets. Social cues are nonsensical to him more often than not, as he tends to misinterpret human body language. Jokes and attempts at flirting take him a while to understand, and most cases will just go right over his head. He can come across as cold or clueless, when this is not usually the case.
First of all, N is a very compassionate individual. He cares strongly for animals, and will go to great lengths to protect them (as shown in canon, he was willing to create a new world just to ensure the safety of Pokemon). While he does have trouble extending this attitude toward humans due to his preconceived notions and personal experience of betrayal, if a human earns his respect, he will eventually be willing to give them the same devotion and loyalty.
While N was once very firm in his beliefs, they have since been shredded, leaving his confidence... more than a bit damaged. Now that he understands the error of his past ways and actions, he suffers from a deep remorse that he tries to hide. He tries to be optimistic, working to correct himself in small ways, but the guilt can show through at times. However, N still holds true to his set of morals. Any cruelty shown to animals (or any creature for that matter) will immediately set him off, and he will do anything for those he becomes devoted to (friends, allies, what have you-- human or nonhuman). And, in a turn from his past self, he does his best to listen and be open to opposing views from his own. However... it still is very tough for him to do this. It takes a lot to get him to even consider opposing views, as he is vehement in doing what he thinks is right. He is a passion-driven person, urged forward by his own ideals.
N is a very logic-oriented person. He excels at math and strategizing, and looks before he leaps. While he is willing to act on impulse in certain situations (for example, to protect his friends if there is little time to think), he prefers to analyze things thoroughly.
N is also very curious. Things he can’t comprehend can frustrate him to the point of tantrums, but he does make efforts to better understand them. He is inquisitive, and is not afraid to speak his mind and ask questions.

Kept in an isolated room for most of his life, N’s horizons were very limited and strictly regulated by his father, Ghetsis Harmonia. N was only allowed the company of animals and other creatures of the outside world, all of which had been brought to him by Ghetsis after they had been abused and mistreated by humans from outside Fletz. N’s ability manifested surprisingly early, its first notable usage being with an abused, magic-possessing fox when N was four. N grew up seeing animals as his greatest friends, and humans as cruel monsters. Of course, he wished to do what was best to save his friends from the brutality he saw they had endured, and was told the only way was to change the world-- quite literally split the world into two, so humans would be entirely separated from other animals. It was an impossible task he was more than willing to tackle, and was urged forward by his father. N was gradually molded into a king that championed his father’s plans-- the ideals of his growing activist organization, “Team Plasma”.
The only humans N had contact with were fleeting moments with followers of Ghetsis, all of which treated N as nobility, while he was little more than a figurehead. The humans he spent the greatest amount of time with were Concordia and Anthea, two women who acted as his caretakers. He grew up hearing stories and ancient legends of the continents from them. He was inspired particularly by a specific myth about two heroes-- brothers-- who, with the help of a powerful dragon, created the continent of Lacour. But afterward, the brothers’ conflicting ideas clashed, and the dragon split into two-- Reshiram and Zekrom, each siding with one of the brothers. The two battled fiercely, but the dragons were evenly matched, and the brothers set aside their differences. However, the sons of the heroes started the fight over again, and the ensuing battle destroyed Lacour. Reshiram and Zekrom disappeared, supposedly sealed within stones to quell the war and allow Lacour to be recreated. Just a tale, but N believed it must have been based in some truth. If he could befriend one of those dragons, surely he would have enough power to accomplish his impossible goal.
N was introduced to the outside world at the age of sixteen, when he was sent out to travel the continents to help spread Team Plasma’s message, and to find and claim the fabled dragon Reshiram. N started his journey in confidence, ready to change the world for the better. However, not long after starting out, he began to realize that not all humans were quite as cruel as he thought, and there were animals that actually enjoyed being with them. There were even others with familiars-- creatures that existed just to be with humans and fight alongside them if needed be. While N thought the idea of fighting to be barbaric, he was stunned to find many that did not mind it, and rather regarded it as a duty.
One particular person stood out to N-- a young traveling individual that held similar powers to N’s, and familiars of their own. N tested his convictions against this person time and again, proclaiming to them his plans for changing the world, spurring them into fights, and tempting them to try to stop him. But there was still doubt in N’s heart, and he sought to rid himself of it by setting his sights on resurrecting Reshiram, with which he intended to take the world by force.
N eventually found Reshiram in Alexandria, summoning it successfully from the Light Stone-- the artifact that housed the creature, abandoned in the ruins. The traveler was there to witness the summoning, and N encouraged them to follow in the footsteps of the myth’s other hero and summon Zekrom. Only then could they be matched in power, and N could set his convictions in stone. Now contracted with Reshiram-- the essential part of his plan accomplished-- N returned home to Fletz.
However, at this point, N’s resolve had weakened considerably, though he feared admitting to it. Everything he had experienced outside of Fletz conflicted so greatly with what he had learned as a child. Questions began to arise: Was what he was doing truly the right path, or was he wrong? What would happen if he were to abandon the goal he had been raised to achieve?
Eventually, the battle between him and the traveler did happen, the traveler having successfully awakened Zekrom. N’s faith in his goal was finally shattered entirely when he and Reshiram were defeated. Upon his loss, he had an epiphany: his methods for changing the world were incorrect; change could only occur in the world with consideration of different ideas, not by rejecting them as he did.
He would have regarded this in an optimistic light, but before it could fully sink in, Ghetsis appeared to berate him for his failure. Driven mad, Ghetsis revealed his true intentions: N was nothing more than a puppet ruler and pawn that would help Ghetsis obtain his own selfish desires to control the world. After N and Reshiram had taken over, Ghetsis would have dispatched N and taken control himself. The traveler summoned their familiars to combat and silence Ghetsis, and succeeded. The man was quickly taken away.
Stunned by his own revelation and the apparent betrayal and disownment by his father, N was left with nowhere else to go. With no other ideas as to what to do with himself, N fled Lacour on Reshiram’s back, hoping to start a new life elsewhere.
N spent several weeks traveling El afterward, laying low out of fear that he would somehow be recognized by someone as Team Plasma’s king and subsequently punished. Thankfully, no one in El seemed to, and he spent time either speaking to whatever animals he came across, or simply observing other humans and trying to learn what he could from them. Sometime after, one of his familiars delivered a letter to him: an invitation to Estrasia Academy. Offered with an escape and a possible chance at redemption, N eagerly accepted.
... But the whole “interacting with people” thing is going to be tough.
Appearance:
(While he certainly doesn't wear the same outfit every day, most of his attire is similar to the above. His torso is covered in various scars from the claws of animals, so he tends to wear clothing that conceals them. He is rarely seen without his pendant and bracelets. He's nearly six feet tall, very thin and of pale complexion. He has some seriously long, pale green hair (yes, that's apparently his natural color) that he usually doesn't bother keeping tidy. He usually wears it in a ponytail, but that of course doesn't stop it from getting tangled fairly often. His eyes are a grayish blue color.)

Injuring/Maiming: Fine with me, as long as you don't go hacking off his limbs!
Killing: In most cases, nopenopenope. But it'll probably be fine if it's necessary to some plot and you've discussed it with me first.
Hugging, Kissing, etc.: Both are perfectly fine (hugs are actually encouraged because wow this guy could use a few), but both will likely cause him to flail awkwardly at first. He isn't sure how to react when it comes to physical affection.

Mindreading: This is fine with me, but you might have a tough time looking through that jumble of thoughts! N tends to think in numbers and formulas, so... Have fun with that!
