What a journey it has been for me the past few years. From dealing with widespread rejection to widespread acceptance, from seeing myself as the outcast in corporate normie world to one of the freaks among my fellow freaks, from realizing only distrust, fear and revulsion to realizing love, acceptance and purpose..
Some things are allowed to end at the right time. There will be no more official
those_who_mourn events for at least six months, other than the upcoming Renn Faire Pirate's Weekend and Cemetery Potluck IV, that's it for a while. Time for all of us to move on and follow our individual passions, that includes me too..
You could call it "breaking up", or you could call it "winter hiatus", whichever fits. Look for us out and about at clubs and whatever events this "dead scene" still has. Again, lots to do for a "dead scene", right?
Grattis på födelsedagen till min syster Annie.. and congrats on you and Ravn!!
THURSDAY:
I got a bit not-as-late for
chronosdc in time to hear the tail end of
shadow27's set (I really need to get better at that), but did get to talk to
groaninggirl and
violinpadraic, to see
deadmoonrising,
darkgypsy13,
loss_of_signal, Christy, Legba, and
exquisitetrash (the yayness!).. few people were there, and I missed the possible Normie Invasion since I left early (*whew*), though a few really cool ones hovered around and seemed to dig the darkness, but it was still a great time and of course
shadow27 and
dj_dirty_b always spin great music and actually a bit unfamiliar to me as well, nice..
FRIDAY:
I went and spent time hanging with some friends Brian, Dennis and Duane, telling me how my movie knowledge is "weak" (oh yeah? Quote the Supreme MP&HG! HA! I knew you couldn't!), and being teased by Chris about my love for All Things Supreme (that is, Scandinavia) while he likes All Things Inferior (that is, French)..
SATURDAY:
I got up horrifically early (11am) to have to go get the rent taken care of, and then came home, took a nice 5 hour nap, got up, piddled on the computer, got all gawwwthed up, this after a really disappointing effort to find a decently-priced kilt, and then went to
dcmidnight..
I was very happy to see Steven there for the first time in months; he came back from Ohio to see Cat, hang with the club and was looking forward to not only seeing me again but the possibility of a nice debate, though neither of us were in the frame of mind to do so (long ugly and unprintable story - though
thecreature,
groaninggirl and
violinpadraic probably have a whole new outlook on me now), but Steven, please come back another time and let us discuss great things..
Also great to see Oscar, Andy, Zak (not enough alcohol you say?),
666daemon666, Ben SexPot,
londinium1 spinning that night, DJ Dujour also spinning, new guy I met Trey,
slyx, the Kilt Twins: Pete and
rivingmass giving me great future advice on kilts,
kit257,
myruiner and
cheetahdave,
Bryan: ok, in short, xUBERx were there (not playing, crap),
sameoldtune and Virginia, Cristy and her Army friend (whose name I don't know), Legba,
loss_of_signal and
exquisitetrash (Yay to both yet again!),
kat928 and Virgil, Shan, Leyla, Jared, Silver Dragon Studios (yes! More Bling!), Edward, and thanx to
midnightscott for accepting my wacky birthday cake ideas (fear what they might be.. muahaha)..
SUNDAY:
I got up a bit earlier than I wanted, but it gave me some time to have some very nice long talks online with Ryan and Lisa, to Stefan (of my Danish family), to Randall (one of the few cool people in NC other than Elphie), my Danish friend Jan and to see the
Beowulf website (Angelina Jolie as Grendel's Mother = Must See), and like
rebelkitten, I really, REALLY miss Norway.. I am thinking more and more about that blessed part of the world and maybe catch me some
Dalit or
Frostharðr, or just hang with Pastor Morten or have that awesome breakfast with Simon again.. crap, I'm homesick!
[
David: if you're listening, let us talk about something I have in mind at
NordicFest when we meet - see I said when]
Thinking of all of that made the news about
those_who_mourn shutting down for six months a bit easier to swallow.. and the fact that
cerberus777,
urgote, David and
Marian, and myself, are all of course still friends is more important to me anyway.. made going to Silver Diner to support
lilian_winter's upcoming Thailand mission trip more fun, especially when joined by
normal_dan, Sarah, Chloe, Mark,
dreammuse and
blacklacewings..
Had a great phone birthday chat with my sister Annie who got a great surprise when Ravn came in from Norway to see her and spend 2 weeks with her.. but meanwhile, all is well with both Annie and Mandy and me.. [And the voice of Stefan, Ryan and Lisa all say: Vad var det vi så]
I'm still processing this weekend and all that has gone on, but I know for now my home is this "dead scene" and here I will rot and complain as one does about a dead scene be so glad I'm at home here, until perhaps the next part of my journey comes sooner than planned..
