Rantings from the bonfire
And what a wonderful weekend for which to rant!
Indeed it was a fabulous weekend of fashion, fun and friends. A time of people who were and continue to be there for me in small ways and large, for giving me a chance to humbly serve them in whatever way is best, and to expand and broaden my horizons in ways that allow my life to be enriched..
And I like Korean food now! The Yay!
FRIDAY:
I went to Sanctuary, the youth outreach of spellbound_dc, where pmhrh put together a night of great music, well-dressed folk and a chance for the under-21 crowd to be able to be mentored, by us eldergoths (or rather YOU eldergoths, I'm only 21.. shuddup).. I did get to hang for a while with groaninggirl, but I also saw Thomas, Meredith, Megan, ratspy, anizee, dj_transept and loss_of_signal, vernvonvoid, and.. well there were some youth there, but next time I'm sure more will come for us to mentor..
SATURDAY:
I took a break from spellbound_dc so that I could be invited by Larry to go see Arcadia, this really interesting (albeit confusing) play at the Folger Shakespeare Library (remember, the first Museum Crawl?); a play set in 1809 (ooooo the clothes!!!) and the modern era (boooo).. I'm sure the rest of you carried on just fine w/o me.. :) Before that we went to Harris Teeter where we surprisingly ran into Marti and gothicdoll1, nice surprise!
SUNDAY:
The day has come..
..for me to be stuck on a 4-hour phone conference call from 2 - 6am.
I felt violated. But hey everything worked.. well, I'd rather not go into that one, but it worked for a season..
THEN
Later on that day I got up, went out for brunch (steak and eggs were nice) and then came home and cleaned and dolled up for Goth Prom. I wasn't sure when to leave fearing I would be too late (whatever happened to meekeral?) but I got there apparently too early (-10 Goth points). Throughout the course of the evening the array of folk that were there consisted of nearly everyone in the scene, but I'll highlight a few awesome special folk: Marti and gothicdoll1, dreammuse, all of Mortifera, Rabbit and Kristin, Ebony, ratravarman, exquisitetrash, Angel, dj_transept and loss_of_signal, myruiner, dmindock, Erica and Cornelius, Kara, Higgins, violinpadraic and Angela, Rick, rivingmass, phoebe4real, scarydavedc and heleneotroy, discipula_dc, Ken, Osiris, Janeia, rainingdays and justaputz, rivetangel, dvinedekadence, wink_ihsan, verlise, and sword swallowers!
The highlight of the night, other than sword swallowing, beautifully-dressed people and being surrounded by old and new awesome friends, was when a large crowd of witnesses outside witnessed a cab pull off right as my hand was on the door handle.. and huge thanks to justaputz for the photographic evidence!
Fantastic overall weekend and I've got the photos to prove it!
