Rantings from the bonfire

This is what the_nordic_one learned this awesome and very long Thanksgiving holiday weekend:

1) There is no drama in Scandinavia

2) I am seriously considering something that was said to me Saturday night at dcmidnight that was a serious wake-up to me and how to handle the drama from this point onward (and to that person, sincerely, thank you, because Someone Else spoke through you to me that night and I really needed to hear that)

3)
Thanksgiving Leftover Soup
is the official Yum

4) The drama ends now.

5) Must I reform the original lineup of those_who_mourn and unleash THEM on your drama asses? Don't make it do it; I am non-white y'know (shut up oldsmobile_mike and in_remission) Or ship them in.. from Scandinavia, where they eat drama queens with lingonsylt and potatissoppa?

Now, let's talk about the 4-day weekend:

THURSDAY:

Thanksgiving was spent with my parents in lovely and tropical PG County feasting on turkey, ham, greens, corn pudding, mac & cheese, hot rolls, cranberry sauce, sweet tea and for dessert: peach pie and $20 pound cake.. it was a relievedly good time with little mention of my late brother; just a nice time talking about the economy, my dad's shoulder surgery, and my eating too much.. again..

Didn't hurt that I rented a car.. just in case..

FRIDAY:

Jepp, I missed it all, I missed the Cruxshadows last night (to be honest, I wasn't that interested in going..); I missed Ascension; I missed Wasteland (crap), and I missed probably every gothic event that night there is. This is life when you have no car and no cab will go to parts of DC deemed "unsafe" especially if you're not white..

SATURDAY:

I finally pegged Tim down to some time together to talk about the Revolution..

Meanwhile, I worked on getting the next those_who_mourn event scheduled: the Those Who Munch on Friday, December 12 (dress nice!) at Burma Restaurant (see me for more info, albeit posted on those_who_mourn)..

And then off to dcmidnight and spellbound_dc..

I will be honest: I would have had a better time at dcmidnight w/o the drama. I am absolutely sick and tired of it. I hope I'm not alone. There are more serious issues than "Blah blah blah is mad at me!" "Blah blah blah did this to me!!" as opposed to oh, your brother dying.. There I said it, and if I lose friends over it, so be it.. I'm tired of it.. the end.. Otherwise, you and you and you and you 3 over there TALK IT OVER LIKE ADULTS..

But I digress.. it was great to see belladonnas_web, Rachel, dreammuse, Arwen, vesper_holly and Brad, darkness664.. yes, the Elegant Among Us.. also to see Jasper, Christy and Dan, Andy and Diane, in_remission, Czar Peter, Lex, Leila, coffinwolf, myruiner and cheetahdave (congrats on your 4-yr anniversary!), Bryan, goodbye to Netta (wahh now who'll put grenadine in my Smirnoff Ice?), and more hellos to Kitty, Michael, Uri, Marty, and everyone that made my weekend utterly memorable in so many ways..

So of course I head over to spellbound_dc for more awesome memories, from hanging with violinpadraic and Angela, Rick, the incomparable Helen with Rinesin Patrick, deadmoonrising, pmhrh, Daniel, Canaan (long time no see), Zee, scarydavedc and heleneotroy (congrats on the house!)..

SUNDAY:

For the first time in 4 days I got up before noon (crap) only because I needed to get out to the House of Sweden (Sverigeshuset) for the last fika of 2008.. a nice segment of the Swedish meetup group was there and they kicked my arse in speaking Swedish.. Väl jag kunde försöka att prata ringkebysvenska.. muahaha.. but I did have a nice Lucia bun and kaffe.. then we all parted ways where I went from the whiteness of Georgetown.. to the blackness of Suitland.. to hang with Tim for our long coffee talk about the Revolution, his new church he's creating in PG County for crack addicts, and how he and I were burned by the same person whose name is too loathsome to mention here (and hey why create more drama?)..

..learned a lot about how two unrelated incidents this weekend affirmed that something is happening in the Scene, the entire Freak culture here in DC and I am so fortunate to have seen it with my own eyes both times..

So that's it. Now stop the drama. Or I'm taking my scene and going home..

drama, georgetown, sweden, fika, coffee, those who mourn, meetup, those who munch, goth, friends, spellbound, event, midnight, suitland, scandinavia
