Ahh.. the elegance Thank you all so much for coming, seriously, thank you! This year's Potluck was an incredible success and brought to a somber note in light of the recent loss of my biological brother and the more recent loss of
inkablott..
You all have my sincere thanks:
cerberus777,
dmcindc,
pragma_x,
fortyhumans,
tuath13 (I thought it was so awesome of you to come out in spite of all that happened.. I am very glad you were here and deeply sympathize with your loss),
oldsmobile_mike and Meg, Ann, Robert and Shasta,
ratravartman, Dovima, Daniel, Adam, Winter and Cora and
dreammuse, and that random call from
Martin about US political viewpoints and his vote (note: he's from Sweden).. the food was great (mmm finger sandwiches), the conversations were fun, and the tours and facts from Thomas were fantastic.. this was by far one of the most elegant and fun-filled events so far!
So let us review:
Earlier in the week I went to the High Heeled Race. That was outrageously fun, even if I saw way too many Sarah Palins.. election year, go figure..
FRIDAY:
Happy Halloween! I went to one Halloween party.. though I was supposed to go to THE Halloween party but of course the sadistic douchebags who mass emailed everyone telling everyone that in "T-4 days" and "T-2 days" "THE" Halloween party was going to happen.. all this bearing in mind that I never got directions nor time or place of THE Halloween party, in spite of my calling, texting, emailing, practically trying to find them and holding them at swordpoint demanding they tell me where THE Halloween party is. They never told me. THE party went on w/o my being allowed to go in spite of the fact that everyone was invited.. So I go to A Halloween party in Adams Morgan, which was ironically probably a lot more fun than THE Halloween party inasmuch as all truly were invited and people loved my Joe the Gothic Plumber outfit.. hehe the one time of year normies love us, though I did see people I know like Grant, Ron, and, of course, Sarah Palin..
SATURDAY:
I got up not as late as I would have liked but at least met some friends downtown to talk about, of course, Day of the Dead. That's what you do. Stop being shocked, you do it too.. or you should.
Afterwards I run back home to have myself some Thai and foot treatment (yes, pampering all aspects of my corporeal being for the moment.. the yum!) and then off to
dcmidnight..
It was a bit sparse that night due to people going up to Philly for Dracula's Ball, but I did get a rather pleasant surprise in seeing
belladonnas_web and Rachel there! The fab! And of course Dovima: the über-fab! Also saw
myruiner and
cheetahdave, Bryan,
dharmata101 and
valdyr, Ilker,
moejj and his gorgeous girlfriend whose name.. oh never mind.. and also saw April Dawn, Daniel, Sam, Ebony working Eidolon Career Solutions, Jason (DJ Blondie), Edward the most awesome storyteller in DC (since Thomas is from Baltimore), and that wonderful set of German goth videos! Went home early to take advantage of Daylight Standard and to get ready for the potluck..
SUNDAY:
And so it begins! I take a cab up there instead of driving due to my sore foot, and the cab driver could not go at first w/o a street address until all of us had to tell him it has no street address, literally. Rock Creek Cemetery has never had one in nearly 300 years! I do manage to get him there only to not be able to find the lily pond. Good thing I was early and was still first! The YAY! I got there, set up base camp and awaited the others..
What a phenomenal time! Shasta won a bar of Swiss dark chocolate for [mostly] guessing the Victorian poem I chose: Jabberwocky. And everyone gets a beautiful keepsake from me for attending of course. We also raised our glasses to honor both
inkablott, my biological brother, and even Mr and Mrs. Bryan, at whose plot we can be found.. we ate, took pics, chatted and just had a great and glorious time in near-perfect weather, lovely fall foliage and plenty of gorgeous mausolea..
dmcindc,
pragma_x and I left to go to a pub whose name I can't remember in Silver Spring for very good beer (her choice of Heather Ale blew away my choice of Hoegaarden) while we talked about toxic relationships (this time: mine). I really needed to hear that.
Which reminds me: Those who refused to tell me how to get to THE Halloween party texted me before the Potluck. The message started off quite lovingly: "Drop the attitude". I did. I dropped THEM. Freaks win again. Big shock.. ;)
I'm pooped. Off to bed with me! Without Sarah Palin.. thank God!
