Even though I'm about to fall down onto the keyboard into a numbing heap of fatigue, this weekend was, to put it mildly, life-changing, God-affirming, and full of surprises.
And really rawkin' weather, in spite of the overabundance of the Evil Orb..
..and because fatigue is settling in due to overdoing it at the gym earlier tonight, let's make this mercifully brief:
THURSDAY: Goth Prom 2008, you can judge for yourself by viewing the pics.. let's just say that nearly everyone I know was there including long-losters like stillitwatches, exquisitetrash and Ben, demonfafa and grayce, pragmas_wife and pragma_x, Jeff and Tabitha, Chance and Keyska, and so many many many others that all came, danced, socialized and looked elegant.. huge thanx to pmhrh and 2501 for pulling this off, along with rmerciless the emcee, Cerastes, Romka, Cheeky Monkey, and even the Town staff getting into the spirit of things (ok, they tried)..
FRIDAY: As the Memorial Day weekend approached, the elegance of the weekend before gave way to utter Metro-related tackiness. The time has come to bar all tourons from Metro. They must not be allowed to ride and be forced to fend for themselves by other means of transport. Getting to work was a bit more challenging than normal.. the augh..
SATURDAY: I got up a bit too early for my taste, which meant that I got to leave early to have breakfast, and more importantly, to go to my new home in Arlington for the weekend (and apparently, beyond!). I stuck around to do some online redesigning of the Those Who Munch flyer for June 2008 and then left to start my first set of Adventures on Metro..
..ugh..
I go to the new pad, change into my Gawthiness, and then leave (oh the easy peezy commute) to Metro yet again, where people stared, gawked and 15 little bratty children laughed at me, and two white women got up and sat somewhere else after giving me a dirty look..
It's good to be among my own kind at dcmidnight and spellbound_dc. It's so very very good. Say what you will about the music, the people or the drama: All of you will be more willing to listen to VNV nation for 24 hours after you've been on Metro with 500+ normie Nats fans laughing at you for only 10 mins I guarantee that.
I got to hang again with JD, Jason (DJ Blondie), Marti, dmcindc, prosector, oldsmobile_mike, and Grattis på födelsedagen till dharmata101 and kit257.. also saw sameoldtune, Ken Lugosi, Eric, xspookykittyx, in_remission, myruiner, dj_dujour and DJ Gleek, Red This Ever performing, prosector (the receiver of the FANTASTIC NEWS that cerberus777 needs to know whether they want to or not).. and though upset over Metro and some extremely rude people who seem to find it sport to continue to ignore, bump and generally passively harass me..
..I left for spellbound_dc to find violinpadraic, Daniel (Zee's roommate, i.e. THE COOL DANIEL), and to find out that pmhrh threw a bombshell on me that I will refrain from openly sharing in hopes that cerberus777 who will be possibly affected by this revelation, will inquire therein.. they'll want to..
Then I come back elated to dcmidnight with some healthy perspective..
Ok this is a cool weekend!
SUNDAY: I spent the night at the new place in Arlington and enjoyed the very nice short commute to DC..
NOT
I suffered for 25 minutes at Arlington Cemetery Metro due to some really st00pid tourons blocking the train doors holding us all prisoner for 25 minutes on the train. Again.. BAN THEM FROM METRO
I am subsequently late - not helped by even more st00pid (and sadly, grossly overweight and using their girth as a physical barrier) tourons blocking the escalator downward to the connecting train I needed to catch.. one would be proud that I yelled out Excuse Me at the top of my lungs and thrusted forth my spiked and claw-ringed arm to emphasize my desire to bust through the cellulite wall to my departing train.. Again.. BAN THEM FROM METRO
Got to the Brunch late.. but dmcindc did a great job getting folk together, including fortyhumans, Marti, oldsmobile_mike, Rob, in_remission and, later on, Edward.. brunch was very nice (mmm steak and eggs) and then Romka performed for Tribal Cafe, which was a nice site.. We were too tired for Piratz Tavern (ok at least I was) so we parted ways.. I went home.. HOME.. Home.. to Arlington for spending the night..
MONDAY: Moving day! I want to personally thank dmcindc, oldsmobile_mike, Fabian and Ben for their invaluable help in moving - as it turned out - almost everything I owned - to the new place! I was planning to only move the small stuff, but they had other plans.. so I'm actually all moved in!!! I treated everyone to pizza and Coke products as we posed for pics with my swords and played the game of Goth (the cards only), and as they left, I literally collapsed onto the bed (ok, the mattress) and was satisfied that this weekend was so life-affirming.. but still BAN THEM FROM METRO
