Rehearsal went really well today - few shaky bits, one scene that really needed help, but overall, oh baby....
Things that made the director gasp with glee:
I had a perfect moment of the "the difference between d'Artagnan & the musketeers is pure raw talent vs. years of experience" today. When it isn't a spoiler any more, you can ask me - let's just say that Austin (d'Artagnan) did a fancy bit of handwork with his sword - and
johnofnotrades (Athos) handily demonstrated that he knows more about a blade than the boy does. Oh - it does this old woman's heart good to see it when it works so damned beautifully. If there was a way to do what they did again SAFELY, I'd keep it for the show....
There are a couple scenes where the boys draw on someone, and they have to be utterly unified and ready to mete out response to what's happened. Face, body, swords - they were different in the nuances of character, but otherwise? Like they'd been a team their whole lives. It was glorious.
Milady & the Cardinal....gods, but I can't wait to see this with costumes.
The dry run with the necklace replacement....it worked exactly as I'd hoped. Thank you,
olletho - the necklace is perfect.
So much is coming together. We still have about 5 weeks. I am excited....
