adoption is a go...
The past few days I've been researching cat rescue and adoption centers near home. And it's making me want May and June to just disappear so I can skip forward to July. Because apparently, adopting a cat is a go :D
Since my family's last cat died a few months ago, it's been kind of strange living without a cat around. I've had a cat since before i can remember. And yes, I still have Teddy (my dog) and he's my baby, but dogs and cats are different. There's no creeper lurking in the hallway or making strange thumping sounds upstairs anymore. My sister (who was our last cat's "owner," aka Pinky was her baby) has finally expressed interest in getting another cat.
The amazing thing about this? My parents are actually on board with it. We have to make sure our finances are stable enough to support the addition of a cat and all that comes with it, but I've been researching the cost of shots/neutering/de-clawing, etc and it seems like it might be doable.
I've also looked into adoption/rescue centers and it looks promising. We won't make a move to adopt a cat until July when I'm home for good, but that gives us enough time to do more research and start saving up money.
But I'm really excited. It's been a looooong while since we adopted an animal or had a kitten/puppy around. And this time it'll be Erin and me managing things (which will probably turn into me managing things), since we were so young when we got all our other animals. So I'm excited to be aware of everything that's going on. I can't wait for July to get here.
Now if only I had a Tom Hardy to go with the new kitty :P
