Help?
I have two quick questions for you guys this evening.
1) Would anyone be interested in betaing my d_hearts_c fic? My usual beta's not really able to beta stuff now, so I'm kinda... lost? lol. The fic's due on Thursday (the 24th). I'm writing it this weekend, so I could have it sent out by Monday morning. I'd need it back by, like, Wednesday just to fix changes. I don't know how long it's going to be yet, but knowing how I usually fill prompts, and what I'm thinking for this fic, it'll probably be about 10,000 words or so (I can't really say until tomorrow when I start writing it how long it might actually be).
The prompt I'm writing for is:
Castiel is quite content with his life studying to be a Soldier in Angel Uni. Unfortunately, one of his classes requires Humanity Service. Equally unfortunate, he waits too long to sign up and all the 'easy' jobs are taken. Luckily, it's almost Valentine's Day on Earth and Cupid's backed up just enough to give him a job.
Ummm... I think that's it. If anyone's interested, or has any questions, let me know. I'm mostly looking for a read through for continuity, if things make sense, if wording is wonky/off, and small grammar mistakes that I might have made. But tbh, if someone just wants to read through it to make sure it's not total shit, I'd be totally grateful for that, lol.
2) I've been contemplating my options for deancasbigbang lately. And one of the two options, one that I'm kind of leaning towards at the moment, has me... reconsidering writing the idea.
The idea: It's a crossover between Supernatural and Inception, and it's set in an X-Menish universe, where there are mutants and humans. The pairings: Dean/Castiel and Arthur/Eames. Dean/Cas is the main pairing, and a lot of the plot focuses around their relationship and their involvement in what's happening with the plot, but Arthur and Eames play a part in the central plot as well. Dean is human, and Castiel and Arthur are blatantly, obviously mutants.
What I'm kind of getting worried over is this: Arthur's mutation. So basically Castiel's mutation is his wings (duh), but Arthur's mutation has so far in my mind developed as feline mutations, as in feline eyes and ears, and possibly a tail. Because Arthur in Inception is the Point Man, the gatherer of information, and keen eyesight and extraordinary hearing and basically more-sensitive-than-human-senses makes sense in terms of Arthur's deductive skills in canon. And the tail? Well, the zero-gravity scene in Inception is a huge feat in physical skill (tails are used for balance, etc). Up until now I've been okay with the idea, because Nightcrawler has a tail, Beast is a big blue thing, and in the movie Sabretooth has the teeth and Toad has the frog tongue, and there are mutations that are handled respectfully while still calling back to certain animal traits.
But I guess I'm just worried that it could be read the wrong way, and people would be like "Ew!!! Arthur has cat features?!" and thoughts of furries would enter minds. *facepalm*
So! I guess I'm just asking for opinions of whether or not I should be concerned. Thus, I'm making use of a poll again, because that seems to work.
Poll DCBB Question...Okay, so all that's out there now. I could always rethink Arthur's mutation, but that's just what's been popping up and developing. (In all honesty, Eames in the fic is a shapshifter like Mystique, because he's the Forger and that's just him, y'know? So Arthur's mutation's just been going in this direction, just like Cas has been developing as a mutant with wings, and Dean's been this human who's caught between two worlds.) But if anyone is against Arthur's proposed mutation and has another idea for what it should be, please let me know what you think.
