catching up... and a bit of Supernatural...

Today I had my first trip to the first "real" grocery store I've been to so far since being here.  Lemme tell ya this:  I love the grocery store.  All that food... lots and lots of it with lots and lots of choices... not just a tiny, cramped, specialty store carrying everything Italian.

That's right folks, the grocery store is my new favorite haunt.  Whole Foods, to be exact.  I didn't do too badly with the wallet either.  I compared prices, shopped smartly (no fruits or fresh veggies bc I can get that here in North End no problem), and only got the cheapest stuffs available.  I'm proud of myself!  And now I have variety to eat, instead of just pasta and different ways to cook broccoli (still eatin' the stuff I got at the farmer's market, and while it's still good, I do like my variety :oP)

But anyway, the grocery store isn't too far away.  About a mile, but it's a good walk, and with all the walking I did with dog walking and then exploring Boston, walking a mile is no problem.  (It shouldn't be to begin with anyway, really, but whatever :oP)

And know what?  A "home" never feels homey without snacks... that's the truth of it.

But before (and after, actually) the grocery store trip we checked out the North End library (literally less than a min. walk from the apartment).  It's a branch of the Boston Public Library, and so while the library itself is tiny, we can get anything we want from there bc they can get it from other branches for us.  And got a library card from there, and a book by one of my professors so I can know what he writes like (and actually say I've read a book of his when I talk to him).  And apparently they can give us free passes to the museums here in Boston!  So yay for making a smart move and joining the library! :oP

Well, that's about all the news today.  Oh!  This festival thing is finally over!  It was fun while it lasted, but jeeze, the Italians love to party (or love their saints... or both...) b/c the music went on alllll day yesterday (noon to 8pm, and then the band was walking/playing in the streets until about 10ish) and then tonight there was another parade with the band playing, and yes, it was at 10pm.  And oh! Did I mention? The stage that was set up to house the Frank Sinatra sing-a-like band was set up right outside the alley my apartment's in?  Aka - bad music, all day..... but whatever. It was fun, I guess, and it's only once a year or so.  I escaped to the harbor for a bit with a book, so it was all good.

:oP

Oh yeah!! one more thing!!!  So the new roommie has apparently watched Supernatural at one point, and liked it!  So we've been having mini Supernatural marathons... fantastic!  Got through the end of Season one and the first disk of season 2 tonight.  And what do I have to say about it??  Ummmmm....... DEAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  yeah teehee... :oP  Dean is awesome.

I'm trying to watch the rest of season 2 and hopefully catch up on missed episodes of season 4 before the premiere of season 5, but we'll see what happens.  I don't have season 3 yet (and won't unless it goes on sale someplace soon) but watching everything again (or for the first time) is so totally awesome.  I've been catching stuff I missed the first time around.

So yeah... New theories about how season 5 might go keep popping up... I'll write on that later (it deserves a post of it's own because, well, it's supernatural ;o).  But right now, it's time for some shut eye...
