Why A Kiss of Sick
Don't let the title here throw you off. The poem from which this comes is actually kind of beautiful, and the "kiss of sick" in the context of the poem and the story is oddly fitting. This is a dark and brutal world, and the disease is horrifically inventive. Setting Severus and Hermione into this end of the world AU gives death_ofme scope to explore some really interesting dynamics and to weave a romance that is definitely not run of the mill. Best of all, the voices here, particularly of Severus in this role as exhausted caretaker still doing his duty without reward or expectation of thanks, rings very true to his character. I don't know if death_ofme still counts as a new author, but even if not, I'm afraid this one might not get the recognition the first couple of parts show it deserves, because of the title.
Note, however, the genre (horror) and the M rating. Also, there are some minor grammar/ spelling errors, all easily correctable. If someone wanted to do a good deed and offer beta help, this story would definitely be worth your time. I would offer, but I'm leaving town and won't have reliable net access.
