Unbelievable. Shocking. Unexpected. Those are some of the words that i can use to describe my day today. It totally blindsided me, and i would have never expected my last day of summer to go like this. So its about 9:30 and i'm leaving to go to work. My mom takes the van with my brother, sister, and I and she's going to drop me off. We're at the intersection of 441 and Holmberg, about to make a right onto 441 to go South. We're at a complete stop because its not clear to turn. All of a sudden out of NOWHERE, BAM!! This car slams into the back of our van! It was so stinkin loud it sounded like an explosion. We were completely just shocked and wondering what the heck just happened. So my mom gets out of the car, and the driver of the other car gets out. It's a silver Mitsubishi cougar and she's a young girl, probably not much older than me. She's like, "Oh im so sorry. I dont have my insurance card with me, and i really have to go, but here's my phone number." My mom was like "Heck no! You dont have to go anywhere. My daughter is late for work, and you have a responsibility to stay." So she doesnt have her insurance info, so my mom calls our insurance, and they tell her to call the police. So Im on the phone with 911 and im like so shaken up Im not even completely making sense. So the police officer comes and all of a sudden, the girl produces her insurance information. Well my mom was still really shaken up, she was having palpitations, and my back was really hurting me. So the police officer calls the paramedics. So they come and check my mom and me out. And they say because I'm having back pain, they need to take me to the emergency room. So they proceed to put a neck brace on me, and strap me ON A STRETCHER, and wheel me into an ambulance. It was so surreal, everyone driving by was slowing down and looking at me. It was weird because it was my first time being on a stretcher and being in an ambulance. There's all sorts of weird lights and machines and stuff in there. So they asked me all these questions and checked my blood pressure and stuff, and they took me to the hospital where my dad works. Well when we got there, my dad was working so he came down and saw me. They took me in by stretcher and put me on a hospital bed. They had to test my blood pressure like 2 more times and ask me questions and stuff. Then they gave me medicine and I had to go get X-rayed. When I came back, they went over the film. They said my X-rays were positive and that I didnt have any bone damage. They assessed that my pain was due to muscle strain. They gave me a prescription and told me that i was going to be much more sore later and tomorrow. Great... So i came home, and ive been alternating between resting and finishing my AP work. Tomorrow is school, and this has really been a crazy day. Im just so happy that Im alive and Im going to be okay. I mean, it all happened so fast. In an instant, my life could have been changed forever or God forbid, over. Thats why its so important to be right with God and okay with your family and friends. Make sure you dont leave home on a negative note, because God forbid, that could be the last time you see them or they see you alive. Im planning to go to school tomorrow, so i'll see a lot of you there. Please pray for me, that my injuries heal and that it doesnt become more serious. Im also so glad that my brother and sister and Mom are all right. God bless,
Vanessa
