Feel the Rain

A Sharon Raydor fanmix? She couldn't, she wouldn't, but I did. I started watching The Closer for Mary McDonnell. I think a lot of BSG fans did that didn't watch it before. SO, when they progressed and shaped the character, a lot of people fell in love with her. People who loved BSG and people who could care less about it fell in love with her. So much so, that they gave her the spin off "Major Crimes" (beginning August 13th, right after the series finale of The Closer). While we all anxiously anticipate the beginning, I decided to do a small character study and make a mix for our dear Captain Raydor.

Before You Judge Me - Black Lips
When she came on the scene, Captain Raydor was less than liked. In fact, the Major Crimes department sort of hated her. However, she was only upholding the law and doing as she was asked and required to do.

Stronger - Kanye West
I can see Captain Raydor living by the phylosophy “What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger.” She’s evolved by sticking to her guns, which is her knowledge of the law. Very seldomly does she stray from it, which takes a certain level of strength from a person.

Have No Fear - Kathleen “Bird” York
It seems like Captain Raydor, though obviously working her way through the ranks, still has to offer herself a little self affirmation before she does things. She’s a strong woman, but has had to sacrifice a lot to get to where she is.

Rubberband Girl (Director’s Cut) - Kate Bush
She would easily take the bullet (not a real bullet, but I wouldn’t put it past her) for someone because of an internal mistake on her watch, rather than call someone out. However, she bounces back quickly because of it and knows everything she does is right.

My Same - Adele Adkins
The friendship between Deputy Chief Johnson and Captain Raydor has been short of hilarious. Though Brenda thought as Sharron as the enemy at first, they’ve come to realize that they have the same mission through it all that that is to obtain justice and uphold the law

Woman Like a Man - Damian Rice
Captain Raydor seems to be a bit of a feminist. She wants wants woman promoted and treated just the same as the male officers are, as they should be. Even going as far as to nominate Brenda Leigh Johnson so that there would be a female candidate for Chief of Police that Sharron Raydor and her fellow female officers believed in.

Percussion Gun - White Rabbits
Besides an insanely catchy beat, try to listen to this song and NOT imagine Raydor walking up with her beanbag shotgun, being threatened by some scag, and shooting him. Not just anywhere, but square between the eyes. A pretty perfect shot if I do say so myself. It’s a tough girl song.

See the Changes - Crosby, Stills, and Nash
Raydor was the change the department required. As time goes on, there were also internal changes that occured with the Captain. Obvious ones that most anyone could see or feel.

He Ain’t Heavy - The Hollies
Regardless of the opposition the department seemed to give her at first, they now treat Raydor as an equal and there’s no smoke filled air about it. This had to happen because she helped out and didn’t just judge the other officers.

Unwritten - Natasha Bedingfield
Besides being my graduation song, this song seems to signify a person (more importantly a woman) coming to terms with who she is. Something that, over the past two seasons, Captain Raydor has seemed to do. With the start of Major Crimes, she will start her new book, which so far is Unwritten. No pun intended...okay, maybe a little pun.
