I am going to kill this thing dead.

Operation: COLD KILLER
(after running to Trader Joe's and Limbo while it's snowing out. We've gotten about 2 in today and they're sticking. No, it's nothing in comparison to places where it normally snows, but it doesn't normally snow in Portland, now does it?)

-2 slices of sprouted wheat toast with crushed raw garlic spread on them.
-One glass of OJ
-Bowl of chicken noodle soup (because I caved in and bought a few cans, even if I'm not really eating meat so often these days. But even my mom says chicken soup's got anti-viral properties, so I don't feel too bad. And really, TJ's doesn't do a bad one, though it's nothing in comparison to my dad's, which has sweet potatoes in the broth, egg noodles, and kosher chicken. I'll be honest, though, what I really wanted was a steaming bowl of chicken pho, which I admit is pretty much the same thing, except it has a ton of ginger in it. I always crave ginger when I'm sick.)
-Several cups of coldcare tea (mint, yarrow, elderflower, etc.) with liberal amounts of honey.

I've also got the ingredients of a kind of improv. hot and sour soup, which I'll make when I'm feeling up to it. The spiciness and the honey will feel wonderful on my throat. Mmm... white pepper.

EDIT- Plus dried cranberries, an orange, and a zinc supplement. If whatever's in me isn't dead with all of this, then it almost deserves points for tenacity.

All I can say is that I'm lucky I tend to get head colds as opposed to the flu or anything that futzes with one's appetite. The thing is: if I don't jump on a head cold asap, it sticks around for bloody ever.
