One Of The Last Pure Summers
I remember a long time ago. It was about 6 or 7 years ago. I was hanging out with all the guys from my old block, Union street. They were all about 6-8 years older than me. I used to look up to them so much, like they were Gods to me. Edgar, which is my cousins Fiance, Raymond, which was a huge role model in my life and got along with everyone, Craig, Jon, Jay, Josh, etc etc etc...
We all loved video games, hiphop, joking around, etc... and i was like someone that always watched what they did. It was a raelly great time in my life. These are the times i need to start thinking about to help get my mind back on track and remember who i actually am and where i actually was going with my life.
So one of the last times i remember doing something with them was about 6 or 7 years ago. We all decided to go to Chinatown to Elizabeth center. This was before i knew anything about Chinatown that i know now, like DDR, MvC 2 etc... We went to Elizabeth center (it was the first tiem i was there) and there was like three video game places down there. It was so cool because these guys knew everything about video games and here i was with them, looking around and stuff. This was at about the same time that Neo Geo pocket came out, and i think a couple of them bought one of those. We just looked around and stuff.
To be honest, it was one of the best times i ever had in summer because it was one of the last times i would see all of them in the same place at the same time. Shortly after (maybe a year or two) some of them moved, and alot of them split and had a huge argument that allowed them to stop becoming friends. Had i known that would be the last big, fun (it was for me anyway) thing we would all do together i probably would have saved like a couple hundred dollars, bought ALOT of video games and had an even better time having them school me on what i should spend my money on.
This is a time before my life gets hectic. It would be nice to have more times like that. I didnt know how good i had it, to be honest.
Sometimes, when im in Chinatown and no one is with me, ill go to Grand street and walk the way we walked to Elizabeth center and look around at the ONE video game store they have down there, just to reminice and think of what a great time i had that day, chillin' with the guys on Union street.
