Well, I just finished blogging on Blogger about my "professional" life and now I feel like updating on my "regular" life.

Saturday is pretty much the reason for this update. It was awesome! Assuming you've read my other blog and you know what I'm talking about - I decided to catch up on my photojournalism assignment an head to Wilburn's barbershop Saturday morning.

I arrived about 10 a.m. to find an interesting crowd of folk.  These guys were very willing to have their picture taken.  The barbershop was so rich with history, small-town culture, and the feeling of tradition. I got off some really awesome shots that are sure to make my project awesome. haha

The project will consist of a slide show with ambient noise and an interview of Wilburn himself.  It should be really neat.  Here's a link of a New York Times version of what I'm doing.  Link

So anyway, after I left the barbershop at around 11 a.m., I headed to the do-it-yourself car wash...the kind with the high-powered hose. After cleaning the road salt and grime off the Trailblazer, I went home.

After eating some lunch, Dad, Howard, and I worked on cleaning up some construction debris from a small section of the yard.  The guys pouring the driveway decided to dump the extra concrete they had into an area that would eventually be grass. Howard and I got "ole John" out and attached the bucket to the front-end-loader.

We busted up some of the larger pieces of concrete so they would fit into the bucket.  We hauled the scrap concrete into the woods between our houses to stop a ditch from washing out. A lot of manual labor - the kinda stuff that I enjoy.

That night we were supposed to have my grandparents over for dinner so Mom was cooking a big meal.  Turnip greens, field peas, and cornbread...ummmmm. And because of the would-be guests, there was more than enough to go around.

These are the kind of days I really enjoy. A day where I get a lot accomplished, drive heavy equipment/do manly things, and finish with a great meal to fuel the soul.  Ahhh... What a great day!

Well, just thought I'd give this quick update about life and what's going on.  Don't forget to check out my Blogger blog to get the inside scoop on school happenings.

So thanks for reading! And as I say after every post -  Leave a comment!!!  ...even if I don't know you!

P.S. - Check out the Tennessee Journalist website for some interesting/entertaining stuff!!!
