Do you think your interest in Degrassi would be as great if there were no Degrassi-related websites, messageboards, etc., to visit? Probably not. It's the community that I like the most.
What do you understand the word “fandom” to mean? The internet following for a particular TV show, movie or book.
Spoilers
What do you think about episode spoilers? Um, they're...cool?
Do you actively seek out episode spoilers online? Not really. If I hear a weird rumor, I'll check it out, but I'm kind of apathetic.
Where do you go for episode spoilers? Spoilerfix.com, and Degrassi-Boards has threads for it.
If you don’t actively look for them, will you read them if you happen to come across them in a post on a community, messageboard or website? Yes.
If you read spoilers, why? Mostly fanfiction purposes. Sometimes I've predicted things that have happened on the show, and that's always fun. Otherwise, I'm just curious, I guess.
What do you think about Degrassi videos being taken off of YouTube by Viacom because of copyright infringement? I was expecting it. I don't make videos much anymore, but when I did I always used SendSpace after my videos got kicked off of YouTube for copyright infringement (before the Viacom thing).
Did you have any videos removed? Did you know anyone who had videos removed? What was your reaction and/or theirs? I was bummed, but it wasn't that big of a deal.
Do you think this will stop fans from posting Degrassi videos in the future? No. There are tons of file-sharing websites out there.
Fanfiction
What do you think about Degrassi fanfiction? Uh, it's awesome. :P
What are some of the most popular fanfiction websites or communities? DB, ff.net.
What are some of the most popular stories, and who are some of the most popular authors? Weeeelll, all of the fic mods at DB are really popular. Kelly123, KC-Chick, Maibie Josie at ff.net, and others. There are a lot.
Besides those, what are some of your favorites? Christy January (ff.net) is amazing. As is snoozin81 and DoubleL27.
What makes you want to read a particular fanfiction? Sigh, usually pairing. But if it's well-done I'll probably read it.
What makes your favorites your favorites? The style in which it’s written, the characters used, the storyline? Style, characterization, plot - all of those are important. Anything written well I will read.
Have you written any fanfiction yourself? If so, what inspires you? Yes. *snort* Everything inspires me. Not just the show. Actually, mostly it isn't the show, it's other things in life that I can relate back to the characters.
Do you think fanfiction has a reputation for being “weird”? To those who don't understand it. It's kinda fun, actually, because in real life when I'll meet someone who reads fanfiction I can form an instant kinship. I'm all like, "they don't get it but you do, and it rocks, even if it is weird, right?" They always feel the same way. :) But really, you get it or you don't, that's basically it.
