What Happens When the Bar Comes Home With You

You know how you work (or go to school) all week in anticipation of the weekend and it's relaxation. The break from the constant monotony of life, a time to just chill out and appreciate life. Right? Well we also all know those weekends where it seems like a week's worth of life was crammed into two days. They aren't exactly restful ... but they are a whole lot of fun and full of memorable moments. This weekend was definitely of the latter type.

Friday
Missed the Mudbugs and free mini-golf, so sad ... bought my first ever Louisiana fishing license ... went to a benefit for Leighton LaBorde, a good friend of Mattie's who was in a motorcycle accident, partied with rock gods ... got 1/4 of The Big Positive (John) to autograph their picture which was in The Shreveport Times ... watched about seven minutes of Princess Mononoke before falling asleep around 5 am.

Saturday
Haircut with Ali while still trying to wake up ... got a Smoothie for the first time in a while ... John, Mattie, and myself drove out to the farm where we fished for bass in Beaver Lake with Markham, Mark & Bill ... John capsized his solo canoe but said he wouldn't have traded getting wet for anything ... as usual I caught zero fish, while Markham "The Fishin Magician" caught six bass and a turtle named Jim Stinker that now happily resides in Mattie's terarium ... played baseball with oranges, it's quite fun and citrus-y ... went to watch The Teeth and the Big Positive ... rocked out ... then the bar moved back to Mattie's where we partied to the early hours ... watched about 30 minutes of Princess Mononoke before falling asleep at 6:30 am.

Sunday
Rude awakening to a barrage of phone calls ... after getting showered and dressed I was off on my way to the Dickson family reunion (on 4 hours of sleep) ... ate, fished and met the family ... afterwards, we came back to my house pulled the mattress onto the living room floor and just passed out ... the perfect ending to a great weekend.

Good times, indeed.
