Week 2
Now entering week 2 of work at Florida Housing. The first week went really well! I have my first assignment which is some really interesting research on building non-profit capacity for the purposes of developing/preserving affordable rental housing. I really like this job. Sometimes when I'm at work I think to myself, "I can't believe I actually have this job!" I'm seriously praising God for this one. I've said this before, but they could have picked someone with WAY more experience then me, and yet somehow I earned their favor and was selected for the job. It's pretty neat having my own office...I get to decorate, which I love doing. I downloaded some sweet photo editing software and snazzed up a few pictures from the past (they're on facebook). I printed them out at Walgreens tonight, and I'm really impressed with the quality of the printing. Those will hopefully be up in a few days. I also really like that my office has a window that faces south and I can see the library, the cool tree in front of the library, the steeple of Trinity UMC, the capitol, "Just Read, Florida", and of course, the high rise condos complete with crane. Kind of superficial, I know, but it makes me happy.
All that said, I got some good advice from a friend tonight about keeping God first during this season. She touched on a few of the things I'm doing, like trying to absorb as much knowledge as possible from the people around me, and having a new sense of self-importance (I'm no stranger to pride). I'm really glad to have friends to encourage me to seek God in very deliberate ways. Really thankful. Thanks. Thank you.
