I applied for two more jobs today, bringing the total up to 18. First I dropped off my application at Pyramid, Inc., a non-profit arts center for adults with developmental disabilities. The position is called Arts Program Coordinator, so it's more of an administrative position than straight-up counseling. I'll be honest, I was a little freaked out today. When I pulled up, a whole bunch of their clients were outside standing around. Plus the agency is housed in this sketchy strip mall on Tennessee street. It's kind of sad, but that's what it's like in the non-profit sector. You have to take the facilities you can get. They have a studio somewhere on Thomasville, but I don't know what it looks like. So I just walked in and dropped off the forms at the desk and left.
The second place I applied was Florida Commission on Human Relations, for a Housing Investigator position. FCHR is the state agency for human rights/discrimination cases. It's a really cool agency. For a group project that I did my first semester of grad school, we had someone come in from FCHR to speak to the class. I think what they do is really important. I left my cover letter and resume with the receptionist there; she said their personnel person was not in the office, but she wrote down her name and phone number for me to call, so that was good.
I called Florida Housing, and they still haven't scheduled any interviews. I applied for this job on FEBRUARY 20. OK, that's kind of ridiculous. The HR person said they're waiting until session is over, which is May 2--this Friday. FINALLY.
The music scene is looking good. I have a lot coming up, including a couple weddings and a show at the Warehouse with a friend's band. This show's gonna be really fun. We practiced last night over at E3 and had a really good time. I'm playing violin, and maybe some backing vocals and keys. I'm excited. I'm also going to try to book another gig at brew and bean.
Oh yes....THRICE WAS FREAKING AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought I was going to die a couple of times. Rori and I made our way up pretty close, and by the end of the first song, we were pushed almost all the way back. By some stroke of luck we had situated ourselves at the meeting point of two mosh pits. Toward the end I had made it pretty front and center, and there were these huge crazy guys all around. I was bracing myself for deadbolt. I saw two other girls nearby and looked at them and said "If they play deadbolt, we're pretty much gonna die." Its was pretty funny. And yes. They played deadbolt and everyone absolutely flipped out and I survived. I felt like I had done a bunch of cardio exercise. Good times.
