Loss and Learning.

I have to say, this has been a strange weekend.  So many unexpected things have happened in such a short period of time.  I think I'm processing it all okay so far, but it's still working though my mind.  One of my social work classmates died last week in a car accident.  He was a pretty good friend, but unfortunately I hadn't seen him for a few months.  We're all so caught up with our internships and making future plans that we (the social work crew) haven't been hanging out too much lately.  It's really tragic about Ryan--he was definitely a man who made an impact on the world.  So a good part of the weekend was spent talking about him, remembering him with friends...and there will be some event to remember him with everyone in town.
The other unexpected thing was that I almost burned our house down.  Not really, but I did accidentally start a fire in the kitchen and had to use a fire extinguisher to put it out.  There was ash and monoammonium phosphate (the powder junk in fire extinguishers) ALL OVER our house.  Joyce and I spent pretty much the whole afternoon cleaning it up.
I'll say it again, it was a strange weekend.  It was a weekend of Loss and Learning.
