What an interesting couple of days... Last Thursday, I embarked on a
four day tour w/ CVC. That was probably the most fun tour I have ever
been on! Thursday night we stayed at a retreat center in Bmore to
practice, then lit a fire in the fireplace and played some poker...
Friday we sang first at Zach Hughes' school (seems like now I know
where he gets his attitude) and then at a special needs school on
Erdman Ave, a couple blocks from St. Matt's. Then we headed over to the
Eastern Shore to sing at the "Black Church" in Grasonville. That was
such a fun concert! They're always good when you can tell that the
people are really into it and want to be there! Anyway, after the
concert I stayed at the hotel with everyone else instead of coming back
to my nice kerosene smelling, cramped, cluttered house. Saturday we
headed up to NYC! Everyone in my van slept on the way up until we made
a pit stop for certain people suffering MBS (Minute Bladder Syndrome).
Once we got to NY, we spent a good half hour trying to find a parking
spot before finally meeting the trebles and altos at the Hard Rock Cafe
(They only joined up w/ us on Saturday). After lunch we headed to a
really neat cathedral to practice for the wedding we were going to
sing. They paid close to $10,000 sing, but the entire wedding cost them
$550,000 (no, there's not an extra zero!). After the very nice (but
strange b/c it was greek orthodox) wedding, Ts & As headed home
while the CVC checked into the Pennsylvania Hotel, right across from
Maddison Square Garden! Apparently, the Penn was THE place to be in the
50's, but they haven't done anything to it since then! I had a very
nice room, some other people had some rough conditions though...
definitely not worth $100-$160 a night! Oh, well, then, on Sunday, we
went to Staten Island to sing at the church of Dr. Vincent Craig's
parents. The service was very nice, except Zach fell asleep!
Afterwards, we rode the Staten Island Ferry back over to Manhattan,
where we walked to Ground Zero. That was a neat thing to see, sad, but
neat. On the way back we all stopped and got Starbucks, then caught the
return Ferry. After helping Mr. Joe find his way out of Staten Island,
we were on the way home. One pit stop and about 200 miles and we were
home! It really was alot of fun!
(Oh, by the way, if you haven't figured it out by the length of this, I
GOT MY INTERNET, FINALLY!)
