Sound... a Scientific Look...

Does anyone ever read this... 'cause ya aren't commenting... but maybe I'm not putting anything good to comment on... oh well...

Anyway... Today I went to visit Strathmore Hall in Montgomery Co. It's the project that my uncle is working on. When finised, it will be the MOST ACOUSTICALLY PERFECT BUILDING IN THE WESTERN HEMISPHERE!!! It is awesome inside. They are still building it, but it is mostly done. Since my uncle's an engineer, we got free reign over the building. We saw the accoustically perfect rehersal rooms, got to walk on top of the roof, saw the choral riser that can be at basement level (to assemble risers), stage level (for choir performances) or at the first balcony level (for a choral backround to the real action on the stage). We went to each of the different balconies, and then up to the catwalk! That was a cool view! The entire celing is made up of panels that move to reflect the sound different ways depending on if there is a full orchetstra, rock band, soloist, etc... All of the walls also have acoustic material that reflects sound behind copper mesh (for looks). Behind the mesh, infront of the acousic material, are curtains which can be opened or closed to absorb or reflect sound for different applications. IT WOULD BE SO COOL IF THE MSB COULD SING THERE! It is scheduled to open in February,... (I don't think they'll make it!) but that's just me! What a cool place though, I can't wait 'till it's done!
