I love the idea of Dawn so much but I just never took to the actress.

A lot of fans dislike Dawn, but I like her. Although I do wish her backstory had been different. Why not make her a cousin, or even a half-sibling? She'd been planned since season three at least. (And it's not that hard to believe that Hank might've had an affair, which Joyce learned about, spurring the marital problems...)

You're right that she's incredibly strong, though. And I love her relationship with Tara. Also, as the youngest (if of cousins, not siblings) I could relate to a lot of it, including Buffy's friends being protective of Dawn and the way Dawn sometimes felt a bit left out of things.

See, I like her backstory :) That pure "WTF?" moment when she first shows up, and then unraveling the mystery of her creation... I just think it was a fantastic bit of storytelling.

I looooove Dawn. I loved her right from the start, even when she's annoying I love her. She's so interesting and the dynamic she adds is great. And I love her and Buffy's sister relationship, it's great. Bless little Dawny. :)

I love Dawn! I think she's so important for Buffy's own character development, too. I think promoting Buffy from only child to older sister matured her in an awesome way. Dawn gave her a taste of normal (as opposed to sacred) responsibility--not counting Key storyline--and another connection to the world.

Plus Dawn and Spike are extremely cute. Almost as sad to me as Buffy dumping Spike after using him was when Xander forever ruined Spike in Dawn's eyes post AR.

Agree, 100 percent. Buffy wouldn't be Buffy without her little sister.

YES to Dawn adding to Buffy's richness.

I am forever going to be cut up about the fact that Dawn and Spike didn't properly reconcile before he died :(
