Don't feel like you have to say anything at all :) I know it's hard to relate if you haven't been through it -- I know I wouldn't have been able to before we started all this.
Besides, how could you write so beautifully without a certain amount of complexity.
Heh, this is something I was thinking about just recently, actually. Thank you, anyway.
How do you feel about living in the US? I always think people from other countries must think America is absolutely insane. But hopefully, there are some good parts too. Do you expect to be here for a long time?
We're currently applying for green cards, so our stay is indefinite right now. I have very mixed feelings about this country, though. The part where we live is generally pretty great, and has provided us with a better quality of life than we had before -- living near a big city means all sorts of new entertainment, and it's very mixed, both ethnically and with lots of people from other countries (big academic environment with Harvard and MIT) which is great for me, because I was sick of being the only brown face in the crowd. We've made more friends in the last year than in the entire 5 years we lived in our old place in the UK (which was in the middle of the countryside). BUT, on a grander scale, this country is fucked. Even thinking about the state of the healthcare is enough to make me see red, the police are like wild animals, infrastructure is just dreadful, etc. etc. Like I said -- feelings very mixed!
I think in some ways we are more real on LJ even without sharing all the details of RL because we get to be what we feel
This is very true :) And I'm looking forward to getting to know more about you, too.
