Well huh
I think I've just finished chapter 5 of the novel. I didn't originally intend to finish it where it currently is - in fact, nothing that I originally planned to be in this chapter is actually in this chapter. But I've come to a good cliff hanger, so it seemed appropriate. (Also yay word count \o/)

This seems to be a running theme with my planning abilities so far. I think a certain event will take far fewer words to get to than it really does. When I wrote my first tentative plan for the start of the story, an Event of High Drama that has yet to happen was slated for chapter 3. At its earliest that's now going to appear in chapter 7. I guess that comes with experience, but I can't help being amused at how far out my plans have always been! The pace is certainly picking up, though, which is making it much easier to write. I now have several paragraphs of detailed notes about future events and conversation etc., which is usually a good sign that my brain is really working on this story. Looking forward to getting started on chapter 6 tbh :)
