Delayed reaction
I finally got to watch Merlin 301 yesterday.
Basically my reaction can be summarised thusly:

I actually really enjoyed it, and I say that with a slightly surprised tone of voice because last season was just so... meh... for me. I didn't like the writing or the direction the show was going in, and the wonderful chemistry between the characters had taken that awful drunken tilt. This season is looking so much better, from the first episode.
For one, for the most part I thought the exchanges between Merlin and Arthur seemed genuinely more affectionate. The bit with the bucket was fairly unpleasant, but I couldn't help grinning like a nutjob at the little blindfold scene.
Secondly MORGANA! I actually like her evol, and I loved the way she manipulated Merlin and then actually caught him out when he followed her. Yay Morgana being allowed to use her brain!
Thirdly, Morgause is back! I haven't been spoiled at all for this season, hadn't even seen the trailer, so I was all :D when Emilia Fox showed up. She's such a good actress, I love watching her. And the chainmail nnnnnnng want. Her relationship and history with Cenred are definitely interesting -- she basically owned him in front of his men, and he kind of seemed to like it.
Fourthly, Merlin's exchange with Morgause in the woods -- god, Colin, how are you real? -- and the following strife. I had somehow managed to forget how pretty CM is when distressed. Morgause's interest in Merlin really intrigues me, and I'm looking forward to seeing that develop. The way he's slowly coming into her sphere of awareness fills me with glee for a future dramatic!showdown (although hopefully not too soon).
Aaaaand I'm going to stop there because I could happily keep wittering for the rest of the hour.
In other news, I wrote something over on inception_kink and, guys, it is really, really filthy. Normally I wouldn't think twice about de-anoning to post here because I am quite happy to own my porn, and also like nothing better than keeping my links tidied up but this time, idk. It's not that I'm ashamed, but just kind of feeling very shy and vaguely embarrassed about it. What shall I dooooo? D:
